BCBS of Ga
Brandy,
I got approved thru bcbs of MI. Most bcbs plans dont give pre-authorizations. so what I would do is to see a dr. [after you attend a couple seminars] and then his insurance people will call you and let you know if its covered and criteria. Unless you want to call your insurance and do it yourself. Just ask if there is a preauth that the dr needs and what the conditions are that you need to be approved for wls. You didnt say how far you are in the process, but it helps to get the code of the procedure you are having when you call.... I would just mention you are having the surgery in MI, but I dont think it will matter.

I finally got the pre-auth info brom BCBS of GA and they are requiring BMI of 35. I think I'm still going to contact my Dr and see what my options are. When I went to the Henry Ford seminar, they would not even allow me to continue with the evals, etc. without pre-approval because of my BMI. I had to pay out-of-pocket.
