Well, yesterday I called and set up my consult with Dr. DiNick for my tummy tuck.  It will of course depend on the cost and if insurance will cover it, to when I actually get it done.  I am really hoping to be able to get it done sometime in April though.  Keeping my fingers crossed that I can get it done.... My appointment is for next Wednesday.  I can't wait.  I want this loose skin GONE!!!!!

Does anyone have any feedback on what dr. they used and the cost?  I am in the Ann Arbor/Brighton area and don't want to really travel too far for this procedure.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks so much....

HUGS to ALL,

Shawn:  I went with Dr. Hing out of St. Joe's in Ann Arbor and he and his staff are fantastic.  I had a panniculectomy.  I was lucky enough to have BCBS through my job.  The only thing I had to pay out of pocket was $1,000.00 for him to tighten my stomach muscles.  Apparently that part was not part of the panniculecotmy procedure. So I could have chosen not to do it.  I had read posts where people did not get that extra tightening and regretted it later, so I paid it and got it done.  It was worth every penny.  I have had seven babies, and Dr. Hing took off between 13 and 14 lbs of skin and fat.  I can't tell you how much better I feel.

However, I don't know how much the whole thing would be out of pocket.    I believe his office info is on this website.  Give him a call!

I haven't had surgery yet so I'm not in the know of any Drs. for plastics yet... however... I just found out that my insurance will fully cover a panniculectomy (sp?). I researched that and found that a lot of people weren't very satisfied with it but if I only have to pay $1000 more to have the muscles tightend... I'd be willing to do that. That's good news. I saw on a post somewhere that some doctors don't do anything with the mons area. Did your surgeon? This is all a foreign language to me. I'm just trying to focus on my surgery first!

In 2008  Dr. DiNick did my panni and also the vertical.  I was so glad I chose him.  His follow up is awesome.  He kept my drain tubes in for 6 wks, because he wasnt comfortable with taking them out.  He will see you weekly until all tubes are gone and I believe after it was monthly to make sure the results were good.  My out of pocket was about $800.  I do have the anchor scar, but its so worth it.  He gave me that Hour glass mid section!

Did you see his commercial for his Brookside office?  I was surprised that he opened it already.  I would rather go thru Forest View (Barix) because the nursing staff was amazing and they were sooo familiar with the procedure and what we need post op.

I heard Dr. Hing is pretty good too.  He works out of Forest View but does his followup at St. Joes in AA.  I am not sure what his out of pocket is though.  You may want to make a separate post for him.

Good Luck!

Be sure to let us know how your consults go.

I know I already told you this on the PS board, but Dr DiNick did my TT at Barix.  When I had my BL/BA it was done at this office in Novi - state of the art facility.

The reason the TT was at Barix was because that was a covered facility for my insurance (which paid for the panni, I upgraded to the TT).  The BL/BA at Novi because it wasn't covered by insurance and cheaper.  His staff was great there too.  The nursing staff at Barix was awesome.  I was the only plastics person there and they were so supportive and encouraging and had nothing but kudos for Dr DiNick.

But - I think its great you are getting 3 consults.  You definitely need to pick the surgeon that fits you best.
