Stuckage
Depending on what you eat, it may never go away. I am almost two years out (coming up in March). The first 6 months I had that 'stuck' feeling all of the time. I think I just took too big of bites and didn't chew as well as I was supposed to. After about 6 months, I finally started to get the hang of it and it didn't happen much at all after that. But, every now and then, depending on what I eat, I get that feeling still.
I remember in June of this year I went to pick up some chicken I was having catered for my son's graduation party. I ate of chicken on the way home in the car and OMG, I instantly had that stuck feeling. I just ate too fast and too big of bites.
Recently, I ordered Chinese and ate only the meat and veggies. Had lots of leftover, so for a bedtime snack, I took a few bites of that and some of the rice ! Whew.....that was a BIG mistake. I had that stuck feeling for over an hour before I finally got sick for about an hour straight until I felt better.
So I think it's just something I'm going to have to think about forever.....eat small bites and chew well. I don't think it matters how far out we are, it's going to happen if we aren't mindful of how or what we are eating.

Stuck food sucks.
Helpful tips.
Pine apple chunks- chew a few (1 or 2) at a time
papaya tablets ( available at GNC for $3.00) chew three or four
The enzymes help to dissolve the food. and they don't taste too bad either.
In the very worst case. Meat tenderizer- 1 teaspoons in a few ounces of warm water. then sip it down. This works fast but taste terrible!
1 yr out and was told by dietitian that this can occur any time after WLS. Try to think of it as one of the perks. like puking if you over eat!, or dumping syndrome! YUCKy

I am four years out and still get food stuck every so often. Matter of fact Tuesday was my birthday and we went out to a Japanese steakhouse. I ate my steak too fast because it was soooooo good, didn't chew good enough and bam.... For me I get so nauseated when it gets stuck that the only way out for me is up. It can be very painful when things get stuck too. I know that there are some remedies to help it go down, but I get so sick feeling that there isn't time for those remedies to work for me. Good Luck and chew chew chew....
