Anyone use Dr. Krauss through Beaumont in Royal Oak?
Dr. Krause is fantastic! I had my GB in 2007. His pre and post care was wonderful. I had no complications. As for support groups, I didn't attend any of them, but I did follow up often with my nutritionist and other Dr's through Beaumont. The nurses at Beaumont were wonderful too.
Any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I am 3 years out an have had no problem maintaining my weight loss.
Best of Luck,
Sheryl

Hi Sheryl,
The psychologist I saw had plenty of rave reviews about Dr. Krause, as does Dr. Doyle (he used to be at Beaumont and is now with Unasource in Troy). My biggest concern at the moment is approval with the insurance company, but it sounds like Dr. Krause gets that all taken care of.
Did you have any vitamin deficiencies? I have a list of them, including enemia.

His office got me approved really quickly. I didn't have to do anything.
As for vitamin deficiencies, I was always anemic. Now, even 3 years out, I still take my vitamins religiously. I take a multi-vitamin 2x a day, iron 2x a day, calcium 2x a day, and I just stopped taking biotin 2x a day. I, currently, have no deficiencies.
Don't hesitate to ask me anyting. OH was a huge help for me, and I have no problem helping others.
Good luck and take care.

I was not so thrilled with Krause. His pre-op care was ok, I only met him the one time. In the hospital I developed a post op bleed, he did come up to see me a few hours after it started and told me he thought it would heal on it's own, which it did, so luckily I didn't require more surgery. As far as his office staff was concerned I had to stay on top of them to get my insurance approval done, he only had one girl working with him and she had allot of responsibility on her shoulders.
But what really bothered me was that at about 1.5 years out I had some chest x-ray's because I developed a rattle in my breathing. The films showed my intestines up in my lung space, which is abnormal, and was probably the cause of the rattle. I had read on here about Peterson's space, it's where our intestines move around abnormally post GBS. I wrote a detailed note to Krause about the symptoms I was having and dropped the note with the x-ray's off at his office and also told him he could compare those x-rays to previous CT scans I had had that year of my chest (I'm a breast cancer survivor and have had ALOT of CT scans for him to look at). He never called me back. My hubby had an appt. the next week with him, during that appointment my hubby asked him if he had had an opportunity to look at my films. He kinda gave him a strange look, then remembered we were married and said "oh yea, it was nothing", ummm do you think he should have called me and told me that??? Peterson's space can turn into strangulated intestines, a life threatening condition. Needless to say I was not thrilled about the follow up for that issue and have not seen him since.

You don't have to have a lump to have breast cancer!
