Fabulous Friday Coffee
What's giving you a jump-start this morning? Starting mine with a cup of black, decaf-so good!
Find myself too distracted lately and not keeping focus. It shows, unfortunately, on the scale. Getting back on track, again. One day at a time......
What's going on for you over the holiday week? Any deer hunters out there? Will be laying low for Thanksgiving. Elder son just went for a four week training in the Air Force in Florida, so he'll be gone. The daughter and family are going to in-laws, so it is just the hubby, younger son, and I. Will be a good thing to not have to slave all day long cooking :-).......
Deb
Deb it is so good to see you this morning! I started with sf vanilla protein coffee.
It seems like this is the week to get back on track for many of us . . that is why I am thankful for this board.
I have to work 14 hours on Thanksgiving Day so I will cook dinner the night before so I have my meal all ready. My kids and granddaughter will all go to my parents . . what I will miss is after the prayer on Thanksgiving we all join hands and each on of us (usually about 30) tell what we are thankful for . . we have been doing this since I was a little girl and than when we are done my dads says "a moment of silence for the troops away from their families" we all get emotional . .
I am looking forward to this weekend spending the day with friends and than have Sunday off and all to myself . . thinking about getting some of my outside Christmas stuff up.
Enjoy the weekend!
Kristy
Whew! What a week! I sure hope today is calmer so I can rest up before my busy weekend. My mom is organizing a Cookie Walk at the VFW in Standish next month and she needs some flyers and posters made... so I'll be on the hunt for yummy looking cookie graphics. I also need to get over to www.bfads.net to check out what the Black Friday sales look like this year.
Tonight and tomorrow morning I'm attending a women's conference and then I'm meeting some friends for a day of shopping tomorrow afternoon. Sunday seems to be clear at the moment and I hope to get some homework and housework done. Thanksgiving will be the typical huge family gathering and somehow I volunteered to cook 3 dishes to pass (how'd that happen?). I'll make a cheeseball for the appetizer table and do the squash and scalloped corn too. Probably won't shop on Friday unless I find something that's worth the battle (which is usually never).
Have a great weekend all!

I guess we all had a good summer, I'm seeing a theme of us all wanting to get back on track. I say good for us! I don't believe any of us (that are posting), have gained over 25 lbs (me) and we all see a problem and are looking for ways to change our way of eating, getting back to exercise....whatever works for you. I say good for us!!!
David and I are joining a gym Monday, I have allot of equipment at home I just am not motivated to get my butt on it, but if we go together and encourage each other it will work. I don't know about you all, but when I'm working out my eating just naturally falls into place. I frequently will look at food and think 'that is just not worth the workout I just finished', so for me I have to start exercising then I can adjust the food intake.
Have a great weekend all,
Edie
I just read Pam and Kristy's post, great minds must think alike, I'm meeting some friends for shopping and lunch tomorrow too! Hope you have a great day!

Good morning everyone!
Started today with regular coffee with splenda and SF hazelnut creamer. I just finished my breakfast of yogurt, cheese and a banana.
Going to be a busy weekend for me. Later this afternoon I am going to get my hair colorored or highlighted or something :-) My stepson's girlfriend is a hair dresser and they are having a hair show and she asked if she could do my hair. I told her sure, but nothing drastic!! Then at 7 I have a CAbi clothing party to go to I was invited to. Anyone ever been to one??
Tomorrow I am meeting some friends for shopping and lunch and Steve and I are meeting up with friends for dinner. Sunday I have no plans!
Edie - Steve and I joined a gym together here in Chelsea. I am like you, I could have all the equipment in the world in my house and still not use it. But if I have someone motivating me and saying 'c'mon, let's go workout' then I'll do it.
I heard something very interesting Monday when I was at the boy's pre-admission testing with the boys for their upcoming surgeries. Dr. Minacian was telling them this surgery is only a tool and that all the exercise in the world will not keep the weight off. That the more you exercise, the more your body wants to eat and it all boils down to calorie intake.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Nan - never heard of the company before. But I went to their website to check it out. Am I a total geek that I'm all hyped up about their logo and opening load-sequence (the company name on a black screen with the graduated pink/purple dots loading under the name)??? I'm designing a logo for a class project and it's sort of based on that design concept. So seeing it on that website gave me a couple ideas on how to tweak my design. LOL! Yep, I'm a graphic design geek. Have fun at the party, the clothes look cool!

As much as I like Dr. M.... I don't always agree with his advice. (Let's not talk about his stance on iron and calcium.) But he's sort of right in his comment about exercise. Read this article - it's illuminating. We must exercise for overall good health - heart and lung function, muscle development, cholesterol control -- not for weight loss.
As for his comment about everything boils down to calorie intake. Hogwash, I say! I am in a 500-1000 calorie deficit every day and my body will not allow me to lose weight. So the "calories in vs. calories out" theory is a whole big steaming pile of bull pucky, IMHO. I believe (based on a whole lot of reading over the past few years) that once we have allowed our bodies to reach morbid obesity, that we've screwed up the natural order of things and we no longer fit into the handy little mold that diet-experts want to preach about. We're lab rats because of our obesity and now we're lab rats again because of our WLS.
BTW -- the comment about "surgery is only a tool" --- I've got a blog post in the works about this. We hear that phrase all the time, but do we really know what it means and how that tool works? Why can't our pouch come with a user's manual. :-)

But Greetings to everyone
Yep tis the season to get back on track.
Started my day with Ice tea crystal light drink.
Carbmaster yogurt
and a banana
Lunch is a small Wendy's chili
and dinner will be chicken and a spinach salad
did fairly well yesterday and working today one meal and snack at a time!
We just have the immediate family. And I usually cook a small turkey with some trimmings for the crew to make left over meals after T-day. But our tradition is Zenders in Frankenmout ever year. We love the atmosphere and family time, During the weekend after we visit some family or just veg out. As far as the Zenders thing we make our reservations before we leave the restaurant for the next year. So far it is just the four of us and grandpa if he chooses to join us. I can't wait for the time when my two lovelies get hitched and have little ones join us!
Keep ON keeping on track!
Thanks to all you brave soles who have helped me admit I was gettng out of control!
And Pam Thanks for the Back To Basics!
