Yea I know, she was very embarassed. I have heard of people throwing up while under...but not that...They told her it happened because the sedation made her so relaxed...Who knows....

use to be before you had surgery of any kind they would give you an enema in the presurgery prep along with shaving the body area and scrubbing it with that orange stuff. to prevent such issues.

that is usually why they say npo (nothing by Mouth) the night before.

sorry for your friend but it is probably more common then you might think.

I have been an RN working in the operating room for 33 years or so.  This is very common. Perhaps she didn't get a bowl prep pre-op or adhere to the NPO (nothing to eat or drink after midnight). Also, the sedatives makes the whole body relax......  If anesthesia used any gases to induce sleep, the gas could have traveled through her body and stimulated the fecal release.Tell her not to worry about it since medical professionals are used to everything pertaining to body fluids happening.

Hey Ya'll,

Thanks for the come back....I am having breast surgery again tomorrow and she scared me to death. I thought oh great something else to think about....I had heard of people getting sick...but not the other....I try and not eat much the day before at all, much less after midnight. With the way our little pouches do, who knows what is hold up in there..... Gonna cross my legs and hope for the best....
