It is hard to believe how fast the weeks and days fly by. My spacial day is closing in fast and I am getting anxious. This is my day, a day that I will Begin as a caterpillar and slowly become a butterfly that is a healthier person. I know it is just a beginning and that the surgery is providing me with a tool. This tool must not be misused, but be used as a guideline to eating healthier and exercising for the rest of my life.

So, I will get out my walking shoes and head to the mail every day during the winter to walk. Then when it is time I will go to a local gym and do so weight endurance to help straighten up my muscles.

My surgery is scheduled for 12PM tomorrow. Please if you have the time to say a prayer for me.

Take Care,
Mary

My mom had Dr. Gluk as her surgeon last year.  She has had a great experience with him and his staff.  Follow the guidlines and reach out for support.

Good luck to you!  I read your other post about your grandchildren.  I had problems with my twins when I had my surgery.  One wanted me to get it and the other didn't.  I was very honest with them about what I was doing and why.  They had questions and I tried to answer honestly.  My one twin asked if she could ever hug me again.  She said "if I can't, you are soooo not having that surgery"  Funny but oh so sweet.  The other made me promise to go on the trampoline in the spring.  I also promised that they could come shopping with me for new clothes.  It was difficult for them.  My one was throwing up, couldn't eat and had headaches the day after surgery.  She didn't want to stay at her NaNa's that night.  I talked to her on the phone and she came home to dad instead.

I know all kids are different and I hope your grandkids do ok.  Maybe write them some notes they can open each day?  Try to call from the hospital too.  Also, make a goal with them that you can do in the spring that would be special for all of you.

Take care and hope all goes well.
