New Salvation Army Thrift Store in Canton
OK, I have to say I never thought I'd shop at the Salvation Army Thrift store, but... They just opened this new one in Canton (Morton Taylor and Joy Rd, in old Farmer Jack) and they had been advertising that they have brand name clothes. So, I went there today and bought a bunch of stuff. I got three pairs of jeans, a pair of courdoroys, a shirt, a Jaclyn Smith sweater, and three sweatshirts for about $50. A couple of items still have tags on them. I realized I don't have any winter clothes and needed to get some things. I'm thinking I'll be back there as I lose weight and need smaller clothes. I've been shopping clearance racks, but that doesn't compare with jeans for 5 or 6 dollars and sweatshirts for 6. You need to take your time and patience with you, I suggest not taking your purse. You have to look through whole long racks of clothes sorted by type. They aren't sorted by size. So, the rack of jeans was really long and I had to look through the whole thing. I found Gloria Vanderbilt, Ralph Lauren, and Levi jeans. I didn't try anything on, because I figured if it doesn't fit now, it will soon. :-) I've never worn or owned a pair of Levi's before.
Anyway, I highly recommend the store.

That's wonderful that you got such a great buy.
I wanted to reply because I have been to Canton at the Fairfield & in Livonia and the Hyatt Place many, many times the last few months. I am visiting my daughter there. She is coming back to the UP Monday though. Nice area you live in. I never left the UP before and was amazed I could drive there. I know where Joy road is btw.

I never thought I'd shop at a thrift store pre op either, but damn you can get great deals. Like you said, take your time, don't take your purse... just pack your patients and you can get great deals!

The one on Hall Road is the best one I've been to.

I've always wondered how that one was but have never stopped in it. I'm going to check it out this weekend. I live right by there but have never been into any of their stores even though I've donated. Now I can't wait to check it out. Thanks for the heads up on it.
