Hi Everyone,

I started my liquid pre-opt diet on October 27th. I have been drinking my protein drink and drinking water, but I feel hungry. Am I suppose to feel hungry, or am I doing something wrong? I am also feeling irritable.

Yes, you will feel hungry - your caloric count has been drastically reduced, but take heart, it will be over soon.  Also you are irritable because you are ridding your body of sugar, white flour, and caffeine -- it's withdrawal.

The 10th of November will be here before you know it, and then you will be on your way to a heathier person.    Try to drink more water and/or crystal lite and keep yourself busy.  You can start exercising now too, if possible.

Thanks Pat, I thought that I was doing something wrong. It never dawn on me that I was having withdrawal symptoms. I am already counting down my days till surgery. I have been on a cleaning spree, getting my house in order, and I have been walking around the block everyday.

I was making my grandchildren lunch yesterday and I always taste the food that I am preparing. I almost started to sample something that I was cooking and I caught myself.

Mary, not only are you supposed to feel hungry, you are pretty much supposed to feel irritable too.  In fact, you are actually allowed to be irritable!

The pre-op diet is just like any other diet you have been on, except this time it will be worth it in the end.
