Good morning!  I'm having some coffee and a slice of toast right now.  I'll probably finish Dub's eggs since he doesn't seem too interested in them, right now.

I have always had a rule regarding turning the heat on and off in my house.  I don't turn it on until November 1st and it goes off April 1st (unless there's snow on the ground in April, then I leave it on, but it's off for good by May 1st).  We have electric baseboard heat and every room has a thermostat.  Since Dub came along, I've had to break that rule!  His room is set around 68.  The rest of the thermostats are set around 60.  We're getting a wood burning insert for our fireplace next week, and that should heat most of our house, at least the basement and the upstairs.  The main level of the house will still need the heat on probably, but we shall see.  My DH has high hopes for the insert!   We are hoping to offset our $400-$500 electrice bills during the winter months.  During the summer, they are less than $50.  If it does like my DH thinks, then the insert should pay for itself pretty quickly!   Fires scare the heck out of me, so I'm a little nervous about it, but he grew up with a woodburning stove and it doesn't seem to bother him!  I just don't want to smell like a campfire all winter.  He promises I won't.

I have a rave this AM (although I think some may think it should be a rant).  Dub refuses to sit in his high chair anymore and won't let me feed him.  He says, "I DO!"  So he's sitting at his little table in his little chair eating his yogurt and eggs.  He does pretty well, except I wiped about 1/2 the yogurt off his face.  He's getting really independent and wants to do things by himself.  Yesterday, as he was standing on the top step (we were heading downstairs), right next to me, and I did my ususal request of "Crawl, please", he said, "No" and proceeded to take a step.  Don't worry, I had a hold of his arm.  He was going to walk right off the step!  I do let him crawl down and then step off the last step (it's not quite as tall as the other steps).   But he's still a little baby and won't let me wean him!  He still nurses 2x a day for nap and bedtime.  He's very vocal when I try to lessen our nursing times!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Kristy!

My furnace comes on when I get cold - so that happened sometime in September I think. If its nice, or the forecast is to be nice, I'll turn it down. Right now its around 66 in my place. If I hadn't turned it on, it would probably be 50 in there....

QOTD: - WOW - this wind!! It woke me up this morning, so decided to get up and come to work on-time...

Kristy -

That video was great! I'm going to check out other stuff she's got on YouTube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YU0aNAHXP0 -- here's the link for those who want to see it.

Please keep these two people in your thoughts and prayers:

Kathy - from the Bay City WLS Support Group -- she was just diagnosed with cancer (Follicular lymphoma) this week and is facing more appointments in the coming days. They still don't know what stage she is or what treatment options will be. Kathy is just a year post-op from RNY and has done great with her weight loss. Her husband, Mark, had his RNY about 6 months ago and is also doing great. They should know more in the next week or two about what the next steps will be.

My Uncle John -- he fell off his roof this week and is in the hospital with a broken back, pelvis broken in 4 places, broken arm, bruising on the brain and traumatized muscles in his legs. They still haven't decided how they'll set his broken back (pins, plates, something else?) and he's facing several months of recovery time. He's my dad's brother and is a few years older than my dad, so he's about 65-i****hink. He and my Aunt have adopted several mentally handicapped children over the years, so being away from the family is a hardship for everyone as there are kids at home who need help too.

Ok, one more link to share...

There's this cool site I just discovered and you can mix several different sounds to create your own soothing nataure "music". Or you can choose someone else's composition. Right now I'm enjoying a day at the beach with birds chirping and a bon fire crackling. So soothing!  http://naturesoundsfor.me/Rainy_evening_1

Have a good day all!

BIG QUESTION

has anyone ever heard of Gluten Free Protein powder

my daughter went to a Herb a life party and bought some.
I kind of think that all 100% whey protein powder is gluten free and Herb a life is just cashing in on the claim!

Any one know any details ??????????????
