Rainy Fall Saturday
I though since we've got some new people on the fourm, we should show them what one of our morning coffee threads were like.
Started my morning off with vanilla coffee, it is so yummy I don't need cream, so calories saved yea!!, just a couple sweet n low's and I'm good to go. I saw a commercial the other day for International Delights and it was bragging that a great morning cup of coffee was 'only 80 calories', yikes 80 empty calories, no thanks, I've got many more things I'd like to save those calories for!
Q: Lately many of us have talked about getting rid of 'white' in our life. Do you do it? How do you stay motivated? Do you still eat things like Triscuts? Brown rice? Golean Crunch???
Have a great day all,

I gave up everything for 3 months and now I am working some things back in . . I started eating brown rice this past week. No triscuts or any crackers what so ever . . I eating celery for crunch or carrots. I have no inflammation and that is my motivator . . not to mention that I feel so much better getting those carbs out of my system. I do eat Uncle Sam's cereal but chose it because of the fiber it does have protein 7g in 3/4 cup.
I am eating far more veggies and lots of fruit with yogurt and am weighting and measuring everything I put in my mouth . .unless I am out in a restaurant.
But no flour what so ever not even wheat for me. . . .

Just wondering if anyone has ever taken Meloxicam???
The orthopedic doc wants me to try it....I'm very afraid after reading the literature that came with it...yikes. He said if my pouch started hurting to stop taking it at once. Don't know if I want to even go that far. So far I am just getting by with Tylenol Extra Strength.
It's gloomy down here in southwest Michigan, no rain so far, but it feels so cold and damp in the house I may have to turn on my electric fireplace after while. Meantime I am going to have a bowl of white bean/turkey sausage soup for lunch (bariatriceating.com) She has the most delicious soups and they're all WLS friendly.
Gotta run-- have a great day Michiganders.

Done! Your Ticker:
I had an inflammatory condition last winter, horrendous pain like I've never had before nor want again. Ultimately I took Advil, 8 - 10 a day, every day, for 3-4 weeks just to be able to function and go to work. During that time I doubled up on my Prilosec, my doc says if I ever have that happens again that's just what I'll have to do (luckily we figured out a big round of prednisone knocked it down, but because it was an inflammatory condition it could come back). Anyways, just a suggestion.

RE: "white" - I haven't started adding them back in. I'm still too new. I did buy edamame crackers at Trader Joe's last weekend, but I mindlessly ate a bunch at work this week and had gas pains all the way home, so I have to eat them in moderation. I've also bought some of the Kashi crackers, but don't eat more than one at a time- they are pretty big rectangles. I occasionally steal a fry or two off son's or hubby's plates when out to eat. I'm hoping not to add these things back in - especially after reading your posts. I'm also trying out some of the bariatric recipes - like eggface's protein donuts, which are really really good. My first try wasn't so good, but the second batch (with the right pan) came out great. Also, Pam's cinnamon muffins - my son even ate those!
I've added juniper berries (not great), turmeric, pumpkin seeds, cold water fish....all kinds of anti-inflammatory foods into my diet to help, but I think all the white stuff is sabotaging my efforts.
Let me know if you pick up the tart cherry drink, I'm curious how it tastes.

I had a protein coffee when I got out of bed this morning --- sipped on it while writing the latest blog post. It's 2:30 and I'm having some lunch while I surf a bit (turkey slices, dill pickles and an apple).
I'm a bit nervous. Today I'm one of the models at my photography club's photo shoot. Hopefully the rain holds off. The goal is to get a good shot of myself to use on the back cover of my book. I'm definitely not a model, so this'll be a new experience for me and I'm a bit anxious about the whole thing.
QOTD: I haven't given up "white stuff" completely, but as a general rule, I avoid it. I try to find alternatives to white pasta, rice, potatoes, sugar, etc. and choose healthier options or non-startchy stuff. If I do a starchy carb I try to make it a whole grain instead of "enriched" flour-based. So if I choose crackers, it's a Wasa crisp or Triscuit or whole grain cracker. If I eat rice it's brown rice or wild rice (which is rare anyway). I do Fiber One Twigs cereal for fiber and crunch. And sometimes when I feel like it and I have room in my calorie budget - I'll eat white stuff that's probably not the greatest choice for a healthy diet, but in moderation it's fine. (Like I had a few pretzels yesterday)
Have a good day all!
