STUCK for a month

I just hit my 5 month anniversary since my RNY and have been stuck for about a month on a plateau - no loos or gain in almost a month - I am concerned and think I am doing things properly although it seems I can tolerate eating a larger portion than before so is that whats doing it?  I work out at least a couple times a week for 1-1 1/2 hours and walk at least one other night.  I drink plenty of fluids and am consuming about 65-75 g of protein every day.  I am having trouble counting calories as a lot of what I eat isnt in my calorie book but it appears I am getting between 800-900 per day.

I know others have talked about plateaus - what can I do to jump start myself to loosing weight again.  I am still 40-50 # from my goal and nervous.

Thanks for any advise!

If this is your first long plateau since surgery your doing much better than I did :).  I know you've hear and read this before, stick with the program, you'll get there, you are still in the honeymoon period, enjoy it.  Now that I'm almost 3 years out I can say this with some experience.

As far as tracking your calories there are quite a few options out there for you, fitday.com is what I use, you can set up your own personalized foods, it takes some time at first but when I make my homemade bean soup or stew I can just pick what I've called 'my stew' and I've got it.  Beyond that they have allot of everyday foods you can choose.  Ultimately it's easy to track whatever you want.

Also, I heard years ago that our bodies cannot loose weight and inches at the same time.....don't know if that's true or not, but it made me feel better!

Good luck,

Edie
