How are your nails?
Yea, like Pam said :).
My nails were awful about 8 mo's out, now there much better, but it took along time. Honestly, since chemo my nails have had a hard time, I think any trauma is hard on them and since your surgery was not too long ago your body's still struggling all the way around.
Keep up your protein and vitamins....this too shall pass.

Don't add zinc unless you know you're deficient. Zinc is one of those minerals that can become toxic to your body if you take it when you don't need it. Plus, zinc, iron and copper all work together, so you need to make sure you're taking the appropriate amounts of each so one doesn't get out of whack.

I haven't had surgery yet but since being on my preop insurance required diet my nails are peeling again. The first time they did that I found out I had hypothyroidism, got meds and then they were fine... Now it it back and annoying!

The tips of my nails, the part beyond the nail beds, show exactly how much biotin I was taking 3-4 months ago. I occasionally try saving money by cutting it out and see no immediate change. But, three months later, my nails show big ridges and begin cracking. I also see a difference in my hair, it seems to grow in thicker and shed less when I take biotin.
As far as zinc, a clue to the need for it is how many white spots you have on your nails. The more white spots, the more you are likely to be low on it. The exception to that is if you frequently bash your nails which causes white spots as well.
My nails have been largely spot-free, I think because I am 99% faithful to taking two doses of multi-vitamins a day.

Well, I have no white spots so hopefully zinc is okay. I do notice that I have vertical ridges on all my nails. I take 7500 mcg of biotin a day. How much are you taking?
It looks like I may need iron as Pam suggested. I am taking Vitron C faithfully every night.... but it isn't always 2 hours after I've eaten anything... because I've had a problem with eating at night. I'm going to change it to the middle of the night when I get up and see it that helps.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions!
