Grand Health Partners surgeons and Hietal Hernia

Has anyone had a hietal hernia and still was able to have WLS with any of the surgeons at GHP? I am psyching myself out becaue a family doctor told me once that i have one (all though i never under went any testing to find one) and I am worried that no one will operate on me if I do. I will be seeing Dr. Foote at the end of the year and was wondering if anyone experienced this.

My understanding is that when they go into do the wls, they will usually repair the hernia at the same time.
I'm sure you will get more first hand details from others.

I am no expert, but I do believe that it is common for surgeons to fix a hernia while they are doing your bariatric surgery.  I know Dr. Kemmeter (same office as Foote) has done this for a few people I know.  You could call GHP to verify.  They are pretty thorough there and check things out beforehand.  Don't worry too much, I'm sure they will be able to take care of this for you.

I'm a patient of GHP and had RNY with Dr.Baker. I had a hiatal hernia that was discovered during an endoscopy a few weeks before my surgery. They repaired it at the same time as my RNY.  There was no extra pain (that I noticed,anyway) and the best part of it all is that my GERD went away immediately!  The surgeons at GHP are great.  They will answer all your questions and will take good care of you,  Good luck and best wishes to you!

Dr foote found my hernia when he went in to do the surgery and repaired it so I wouldn't worry.
