Edie,
I eat 8 oz of yogurt every morning with 6 oz fresh or frozen fruit and Uncle Sam's cereal, it has no sugar, 7 g protein, 5g fat, 190 cals, 10g dietary fiber, it is toasted wheat kernels and whole flax-seed, 190 cals for 3/4 cup.

I eat 4oz of protein, 8 oz salad, 8 oz cooked veggie and 1 serving fat for lunch, and I do the same for dinner. . . I don't eat between meals, what I do is divide my meals in two and eat every 2 hours.

The only crunch I eat is the cereal in my yogurt, and some-days instead of a salad at lunch I eat raw veggies and dip them in the salad dressing.

I sent you my cell number in case you want to talk . . but I can tell you I had come crackers in my hand the other day and I just have to stop and think about how much better my body feels and put them down.

Thanks for the info Kristy,

I have to get organized and wrap my head around such a change in my diet, but when I'm ready I will definitely give you a call.

Thanks,

Edie

I'm a vegan and don't have any trouble getting my protein in. True I am only a few days out of surgery. (funny story-went in expecting RNY came out with sleeve). But I used the diet supplied by my doctor for a month before just to make sure it could be done. There are a lot of protein sources out there. Make veggie chili using textured vegetable protein I defy you to tell the difference if not told it did not have meat in it. There are a lot of meat substitutes out there. Protein combining is not thought to be so important now days. Combinations do nothave to be made at same meal or even within same day. If you want to do it go for it. I would try OVO-lacto vegetarianism first. that mean you can eat egg and milk then remove them if you want. Contact me by a personal message if you want and I'll try to answer questions you may have.

Thanks for the info.  If I go vegetarian there is no way I'd go anything but ovo-lacto, I can't imagine giving up eggs and cheese :).

Give up cheese?!??!!!?!  Oh, no way, uh uh, never, no could do.  I'm with you Edie.  I think I may try the vegetarian protein thing in chili.  I'd like to see if my hubby could tell.  I'd need a recipe.  Anyone have a good one?

Jani,

There's this stuff called TVP (textured vegetable protein), you can find it in the organic area or where they have bags of dry beans.  TVP is in a clear bag and looks like tan/cream pellets.
We put it in our chili with or in place of meat, if we put meat in we cut the quantity WAY back.  As I recall (we haven't made it in awhile) it absorbs all the tastes of the chili, so you don't taste the TVP, if it even has a taste.  If I were you, the first time I'd mix it with meat then decrease the amount of meat with each recipe.  Now that I've talked so much about it I'm going to buy some for my winter recipes because it really is so healthy for us.

HTH?  Here's to Health?
I'm going to Meijers and will look for the TVP.  I may try it in chili with turkey meat.  Sounds like a great alternative.  I'll have to hide it tho so hub doesn't see it.  He would definitely put the brakes on that one.
Thanks,
Jan
