How much was your hospital bill??
I am just wondering how much was your hospital bill was for Lap/RNY after your surgery? I see it varies so much from one to the other. My Insurance is Priority Health and its a PPOsm. In the policy agenda it states
* Physicians' fees for treatment of morbid obesity is Covered at 50% of the first $2000.00, 100% thereafter.
*The lifetime maximum benefit for all charges related to the treatment of morbid obesity is $25,000.00
Now I am not exactly sure what this entails but I really need to have an estimation of what my potential out of pocket costs this could have of me. I am scared to death of going through with my RNY that is scheduled in 16 only days and then getting this huge hospital bill for thousands and thousands of dollars. I have worked so hard for months and months to actually get this surgery and now I am having second thoughts due to the fact that I have been out of work for a bit and my husband could quite possibly be getting laid off and that is why I am so concerned. I don't know what to do if this doesn't work itself out... Please Help!!!

The thing you have to remember is that WLS is NOT "treatment for obesity". So that lifetime max benefit doesn't apply. WLS is treatment for co-morbidities - diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc.

By the way.... if you haven't already called your insurance company to get the checklist of requirements for coverage, here's a post on my blog that might help. At least this will give you the first steps and how to ask the questions about coverage to your insurance company
