My son has been approved!!!!
Thanks Linda - you're right I am so excited for him!! When I called and told him he said 'mom that means we've gotten through all the red tape and there's nothing that can change right?' I said "nope you have been waitng a long time for this' and he said 'yep, all's i can say is freshman baseball season.'
That was when he got cut from the baseball team and when the coach cut him, told him 'he was too big to play baseball' Can you believe it!! It was that night he came home and cried and cried. He wrote me a long letter (I still have it saved) begging me to help him get surgery because he was tired of being this way. But since he was only 15, i had to tell him we had to wait 3 years. It just broke my heart. But I promised him then that someday I would help him even if insurance didn't pay, I'd find a way for him to have the surgery!
I am just so grateful for my insurance and the fact that it covers WLS.

That is such great news! So you have two sons and your daughter has already had surgery?
What are their ages? I just want to keep them straight in my mind. Do you have any more children?
You guys can have your own reality show about how everyone had the surgery to be happier and healthier. It would also be a good storyline to see how Steve and his children react to this situation.
Are any of them overweight?
And how is your daughter doing these days. Is she recovering nicely?
I have two boys and a girl. My youngest son is not overweight... he takes after his dad. My oldest son could be overweight but he watches what he eats and also rides his bicycle to the hospital and back every day to work... even in the winter.
My daughter on the other hand, could have an issue. When she got married last July she was small. Now she actually weighs too much. I feel it's because they eat out so much. I'm hoping once they get in a regular pattern since they've moved, they will be able to settle down and be homebodies and once again pay attention to their health.
Taiya is working in the cardiac unit in a hospital in Florida. She said today she was called a bomb shell, britney spears, and beautiful. I'm sure she likes to hear that and will get back on track with her eating and exercise.
Let us know as soon as he is scheduled!

Hi Sandi,
I think a reality show is a good idea!! I thave three kids and Steve has two. I have Katie (22), Mike (21) and Chris (18). He has Meghan (22) and Evan (18). There is a picture of all of them (and us) on my profile somewhere in the wedding pictures. The two girls have been roommates in college the past 4.5 years. We are so fortunate that all the kids get along so well :-) So we have the five kids between the two of us. We waited to get married until the boys graduated from high school although we have been together living in two separate households (and towns) for the past 7 years.
As far as weight loss surgery, HIS daughter had it also! So, out of all seven of us, once it's all said and done, it will only be Steve and his son who have NOT had the surgery. Meghan had it in December 2008, I had it in March 2009, Katie in May 2010 and Chris and Mike (hopefully) both in Dec 2010. That's definitely the makings for a reality show - LOL Steve and Evan are not overweight at all.
Katie is doing wery well, down 78.5 pounds total. Has gone from a size 22 pants to a size 12 so far!
That's cool that your son rides his bike to work and back! I can't believe he does it in the winter also. Nice comments about your daughter!! I'm sure it put a smile on her face to hear those compliments!
I'll keep you posted when I find out when surgery is and once we submit MIke's paperwork. It would be ideal if they could have surgery the same day.
Take care,
Nan
