Talked to my doctor today and I'm scheduled for Oct 11, Some one was suppose to contact me to find out about pre-surg. diet. I need to start it Monday Sept. 27th. Can anyone who has had surgery with them tell me about the diet just so I can start on time until I hear from them. My doctor is Dr. James Foote.

Didn't you see a dietician???  You are supposed to be on their pre=packaged foods for two weeks prior to your surgery....it's high protein low carb....you were supposed to get them at your last appt.  You need to call them asap.

I saw a dietician when I first started out a month ago. She showed me the diet I would be on after surgery and said there would be a diet of their food 2 weeks before sugery. But she never told me how much I should eat in those two weeks. Since I just found out I would have surgery for sure yesterday afternoon and monday is the beginning of the two weeks I tried to get an answer but didn't. I'll try again monday. I have some of their food so that is ok. I just need to know how much? The guide lines I was given for after surgery was 60 or more grams of protein, under 1200 calories and fat grams under 40 grams. Is the info for the presurg. diet too?

Everything so far with them has been last minute info which is fine as long as I have it before I need it but in this case "before" is already gone, or at least will be by the time I can talk to anyone.

I had my surgery over 3 years ago...so I'm not sure if these guidelines have changed...but you're on the right track.

The Pre-Surgery Instructions I received were:

10 points per day - start eating 1-2 points within 1 1/2 hours of waking and then 1-2 points every 3-4 hours until bedtime (I couldn't tolerate the product so I had to drink 5 Carnation Instant Breakfast per day)

Drink 64 oz. of diet/decaffeinated fluids - minimum (whi*****ludes sugar free popsicles and Jell-O)

Take two chewable multivitamins with Iron

Don't fret....I barely had time to start the 2 week pre-op diet "in time" as surgery got scheduled a lot faster than anticipated....you should get scheduled for the "marathon" pre-op visit soon where you meet with the PA, dietician and exercise physiologist to discuss pre/post op instructions. This is also the app't where you will order/get your pre-op food order.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll try to be of help and good luck on your upcoming surgery!

Pat is correct. I just had surgery with Dr Foote and I was on their pre packaged food. It was my last pre op appointment I was there from 1030- 200 and we picked up our food.

i had all of my information way ahead of time from GHP.  Nothing was last minute for me. Sorry that you are left wondering, that has to be frustrating.

I know that I picked my food and purchased it just before my 2 wks prior to surgery. You have one of your choices for breakfast..mine was oatmeal or pancakes..and then a choice for lunch, and your dinner selection (as well as sf popsicles/sf jello).  Take a look at my profile for pics of the food options I had from them.

Hope you get an answer tomorrow!

holy moly!!!   Thats so weird! My Surgery is with Kemmeter 10/7 and I've had a list of appointments for a month!!!   I really hope you got your full 2 weeks pre op as its less stressful that way....even though the pre op diet sucks! LOL   At least I had tons of advice on what to avoid and what was good! :)  I have been on this diet 10 days now and  have 5 to go...6 kinda but on the last day you dont really eat.

I finally got an appointment last Wendsday. Started my pre-op diet on thursday, so I'll have 12 days on it. like you say the food isn't great but at least it is not solid liquid. However I am worried because they said if you don't lose weight on the diet surgery could be cancelled. My problem is Ive been on a 900 cal diet since the beginning of Sept. I've lost 19.5 lbs but now I seem to be stuck and I'm afraid I won't lose any before next Wendsday when I have my Product Eval.

you will!  Just make sure you go for a walk each day or something.... and its realllly hard for me to get to 800 calories a day eating their food and I eat every 2 hours from the time I get up until bedtime.

I have lost a LOT of weight this year I was on a 1200 calorie diet but then the 2 months before my preop diet I went back to eating anything and everything in site...BAD idea!  this diet sucks but I am very strong in mind and I will get through all of this with flying colors... we are a good cause afterall! :)

let me know if you need moral support...if you txt in particular you can jsut txt me all day and whine about your food or be excited about it  whatever. LOL
