irritated....
ive been on the road working at two different county fairs and after sweating and walking my a$$ off, i havent lost ANY WEIGHT.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....
is anyone stalled for over a year like me???????
completely frustrated !!!!
Also remember that when you're sweating and working a lot in the hot weather that it's normal to see a slight gain in weight. So maintaining your current weight is a good thing.

The scale can measure the weight of my body but never my worth as a woman. ~Lysa TerKeurst author of Made to Crave
A restriction only procedure is only going to take you so far. It is great for someone who is young, hasn't destroyed their metabolism, and is a relative lightweight to start with... but really, it is a diet.
Am I reading your ticker correctly, that you are still at a 64 BMI? If I were you, I would hustle my fanny back into GHP and discuss adding the switch to my anatomy --- and not with Dr. Baker, as he doesn't perform the DS. Kemmter is who you need to consult with.
Unfortunately, many people end up with the surgery that the surgeon they consult with is capable of performing, not what is truly best for them long-term.
Also, unfortunately, you have lost the great synergy that comes with the full DS, so adding the switch will likely never get you to a normal BMI, but it could likely get your further along than you are now, or at least help you not to gain, which is likely going to happen soon with the VSG only.

Highest Known Weight = 370# / 59.7 bmi @ 5'6"
Current Weight = 168# / 26.4 bmi : fluctuates 5# either way @ 5'7" / more than 90% EWL
Normal BMI (24.9) = 159#: would have to compromise my muscle mass to get here without plastics, so this is not a goal.

Yes, my BMI is 64... but i started at 84!! I CANT go see any of them until i have INSURANCE... which i have NONE of... only insurance that i have found that will cover me is Aetna, but they wont cover me until 3 yrs past my first WLS... ( i only work part time and like the rest of this country im BROKE)
Dr Baker saved my life... he was planning the RNY but because of my size, he couldnt reach my intestines well enough without having to cut me wide open (which would have been the worst thing for me)... so he opted for the sleeve with assistance from Todd and Kemmeter...
which brings me to why i need INSURANCE... so i can go through with part 2.. the DS... (or he may opt for just doing the RNY-who knows)...
i KNOW i will never be at a normal BMI, or a normal weight... but any loss is better then gaining... but ive been fluctuating between 3-5 lb loss/gain...
ive switched my diet up a little bit again to see if i can kick-start my loss, and now that back/knee feel better, hopefully this combination will work better :)
thanks for all the comments ladies!!! :) :) :)
I'm just going by what you wrote.... and a year doesn't sound like a stall to me.
After I posted, I scanned your profile. You wrote that you are now gaining, so I hope that now that you can move again, that it helps. If you can, try to get in the pool as much as possible, so you don't cause more injury to those areas you hurt earlier in the year.
I get that you feel that Dr. Baker saved your life. The fact of the matter is, he doesn't perform the DS, so that was never a viable option for you as long as he was / is your surgeon. That is why I suggested Kemmeter; you will never get a "switch" with Baker, you will get what he is capable of giving. If my memory is correct, didn't you have family members that Dr. Baker had treated prior to you?
I've seen BMI's higher than an 84 get a lap DS, so really, that number doesn't shock me. The right surgeon can make it happen. There is a post right now on the DS Forum from Danielle, who just hit her 300# lost mark, and she is still kicking it. She had a lap DS, all at one time. Another young lady (age 17) flew to Brazil and self-paid for her DS, and her family struggled financially for over a year to make that happen for her.
Yep, the health care coverage in this country sucks. I made major sacrifices in my life to make my DS happen, and I am postponing plastics because other of other financial priorities right now. Hopefully you will find a way to get yourself the care you need, for your health.

Although our situations are a bit different...I can totally identify with where you're coming from as I haven't lost anything in the last year either....in fact, I just had my 3 year post-op check today with Todd and the TANITA reading showed that I've maintained my weight from last year BUT it also showed that I have less fat mass and more Fat Free Mass (muscle). Have you kept track of your measurements? Have these changed? I offer these examples because it's possible that you aren't seeing anything on the scale but that doesn't mean you aren't making progress! Besides, I know what it's like to encounter physical challenges along the way...you need to allow your body time to adjust/heal (although this is easier said than done...I've been nursing a stress fracture since March!). Have you thought about contacting Andy (exercise physiologist) at GHP? He's an excellent resource and would be more than willing to work with you on incorporating an exercise routine that wouldn't aggrevate your injuries. I don't know if you would need to pay to see him or whether it's part of your follow-up care...but you could call him and/or contact him through e-mail to see if he could offer and pointers/suggestions to jump start the loss again.
Just be careful not to blame yourself...like Pam said...sometimes our bodies have their own agendas! Good luck!
