How to handle weight loss questions??

The past couple weeks I have been around people that haven't seen me since I had surgery on June 14th.  Most have no idea I had surgery.  Only a few people just say "wow, Lori, you're looking so good", most people start with all the questions as to what I'm eating, exercising etc.  For some reason all of the attention and questions REALLY IRRITATE me.  I find it intrusive and rude to ask be asking me, what I consider personal questions.
Any suggestions on how to cope with this new found attention and the "rude" questioning that goes with it??

Lori,

I haven't had my surgery yet but I was told I will have some explaining to do.
I am thinking that is there problem why would it be mine?
Do we ask people what kind of birth control they are on or how many sexual partners? No then why asked us all these questions about our weightloss Compliment me say I look pretty today or keep it up If I wanted everyone to know I would of put it on a billboard

Sorry, but I have been faced with friends who judge me and tell me I will have to explain. Nope not going to!!

I totally understand

I agree that people can be intrusive so I choose what I say based on who the person is. If it is a close friend, they probably know I had the surgery and I say, yes I am sticking to the plan and making it work. If it is just a person from work I would say- "I am trying hard to make it work" I'll be happy when I'm healthy.  The worst experience I had(or one of them) was when my aunt came up to me and said" oh, it looks like you had some "work" done as she patted my belly and hips. I was proud to tell her- the only work done is my running 5 miles 5 times a week and 45 minutes of circuit training twice a week- SHe was shocked but it made me feel good. No plastic for me and my belly is reasonably flat- can't say the same about the extra padding on the thighs but- we can't all be perfect.

Say just what you are comfortabe with- if it is an intrusive question -slough it off. This is "your" journey.

Although I am still 2 weeks away from surgery, I think my honest answer will be: "I'm eating less and exercising more."  Enough said.

Who can argue with that?

I honestly think others are looking for the "magic cure" - when they ask "how did you do it"... I have it all the time.  I know I'd do the same thing if the situation was reversed.  We want to know what made the other person successfully lose weight.

I tell the truth - most of the time.  If I'm asked what I eat - I just say I follow an Atkins type of lifestyle - high protein, lower carbs.  That usually satisfies their curiosity.  If I get the "how did you do it" - I tell them I had surgery...
