Hi,
I'm considering GHP in Grand Rapids. Anyone out there familiar with them?
I have an appointment with the internest on the 18th. If all goes well, I will see the psychologist and nut before the end of the month.
Was originally going with a surgeon from Kalamazoo but he is so busy that I couldnt even get a consultaion until mid Demember. I just couldn't wait that long.
I would appreciate any insight....

Thx,

I have chosen to go with GHP. I have found them to be incredibly professional, warm and caring. I am going to have Dr. Foote to do my surgery and meet with him on Tuesday. I have been very pleased. From what I have learned he has traveled to teach other surgeons his techniques for the sleeve. They have great mentors that volunteer their time and also a good support group.

I have been very happy. with this practice.

You have made a good choice by going to GHP, it is a wonderful office IMO.  They are very thorough and helpful throughout the whole process.  They are all qualified and vetted surgeons who offer all 4 WLS options.  From what I understand Dr Baker is known for doing the RNY Gastric Bypass, Dr. Foote the Sleeve (VSG) and Kemmeter is being sought out alot for the Duodenal Switch (something I didn't know before I went).  In my experience with Kemmeter, he has always been very thoughtful and kind...really seems to look the big picture for each patient.  I think you will be pleasantly surprised once you go there.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

Good luck :)

HI
I had my surgery at GHP by Doctor Foote. He is great. I know many others who have also gone there and been very happy. Everyone in the office is fantastic and very helpful. Even the other patients that were in my orientation were great. I met 2 other women while in orientation and they became very good friends. We all had our surgery on the same day. It has been a great experience and Im glad I did it and would recommend EVERYONE who is near GHP to go there. If you need anything or would like more info feel free to get ahold of me.
Good luck!

GHP is a well established practice - they were formerly with MMPC, but have been in their own facility for going on two years now.  Foote, Baker (who started the group) and Kemmeter were the original team, they have since added Dr. Nagle.  Dr. Kemmeter is also head of Bariatrics at St. Mary's Hospital in G.R. -- he does a lot of his surgery there.

I have been most pleased with Dr. Kemmeter and the whole staff at GHP...no complaints at all.  I think you will find everyone there pleasant and able to help with whatever questions you might have.

Best wishes on your wt. loss journey,
Pat R.

I have a RNY scheduled 8/24 with Dr. Baker.  So far I've had nothing but positive experienceswith GHP.  The staff is very friiendly and I feel comfortable with Dr. Baker.  I meet with the behaviorist and nutritionist next week.

If you decide to go with GHP, I think you will be happy with that decision.  Best of luck to you!

I have nothing but praise for GHP. They have been fantastic throughout my entire process. Dr. Kemmeter is extremely kind and caring along with being a very gifted surgeon. Just like Heather, I met a new friend at orientation and we ended up having surgery on the same day and now communicate via e-mail. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. Good luck on your journey.

I love GHP!  Dr. Foote is professional and caring.  I can't imagine going to anyone else for WLS.  Good luck!

GHP is an excellent practice with excellent physicians. Dr. Baker did my lap band  years ago and he will be doing my revision to a RNY in two weeks. He knows what he is doing and I do trust him. Although this is scary and I am processing al of the posts to hellp me prepare for this next step.

I had my surgery six years ago and was very happy. Back then, the only option was the RNY. Dr. Foote did my surgery and I had no problems. The staff there was very helpful throughout the process. I am now in Louisiana, having moved in June for a new job after being unemployed for five months.

It's a good group and you will be very pleased.
