Needing Your Help!! Knee Surgery Question (Flint area)

      I thought I WAS being careful at the Gym ... but I injured my right knee (for a total of 5 things that have to be repaired).  I've had to drop my workouts, my Crim training, etc.  My PCP has refereed me to:
 
Dr. Telehowski, Orthopedic Surgery - McLaren Regional Medical Center

I HATE to ask this (because I would hate for someone to ask a question like this about me on-line), but right now he's just a name on a referral paper!  If you can recommend him, would you please let me know (and if you're NOT able to recommend him, I would also appreciate hearing that perhaps in an OH e-mail).   I don't care about bedside manner - I just want a great surgeon!

I'm just a little freaked-out ... and those of you who know me, know that being freaked-out is what I do best!  

You see, I've been trying the entire summer (no kidding, since the second day of Vacation) to get this knee problem fixed, and today I learned that my first appointment with the surgeon is scheduled on my first day back at school.  There's NO WAY that's going to work.  Even though I have enough sick-days saved up, I would do so much political damage to myself, that it wouldn't be worth it!!!  Besides I don't want to be the biggest shmuck in the District - missing the first day for an appointment and then having surgery and missing the first week with the kids!!    Freaking-out again ...
                                                                                                                                     
I'm going to call the surgeon's office on Monday - and see if they can squeeze a pre-surgical appointment in, and then put me on a cancellation waiting list!!  I don't even know if they have such a thing ... but I have to ask!   HOWEVER ... I would LOVE to hear from someone, that they had experience with Dr. Telehowski ... OR WITH ANY Knee Surgeon in the area.  If I can't change the date, perhaps I can find a different surgeon who can do the surgery a week earlier.

I don't know anyone in the Flint area, but if your willing to come down to the metro area I work for physical therapists and hear allot of good names.  #1 Dr. Ward, out of St. Jo's in Pontiac, #2 Dr. DeClaire out of Crittenton.   

Those are 2 that pop in my mind, I can try to get you more names if you want.

Awww man.  I sure hope you can get in sooner than the first day of school. Seeing you hobbling around makes MY knees hurt - so I know you're anxious to get this fixed as soon as possible. Keep us posted.
