Hi Everyone,

Decided to start the coffee thread today.  I know not many people are around these days.  Which is good, everyone is busy this summer.  

I started my day with Pepsi Max, flat of course and some low-fat cottage cheese.

qotd:  Do you know how to swim?  If yes, how often do you swim?

I do know how to swim and I would say I swim probably twice a week.  I have a pool but I am more of a lounge-er as Cheryl says than a swimmer....

Good Morning!

Since I am pre-op, I started out with my usual cup of coffee.  Not sure if I can drink coffee post-op.  Of course I drink mine with 1/2 & 1/2 and a little coffee flavoring.  I know that will have to stop just because of the sheer calories and sugar!

I love to swim and I LOVE the water, but I HATE,HATE,HATE the dreaded swimsuit.  Will not be seen in public (or private for that matter) in one.

However, I have HOPE!  I'm hoping by this time next summer I will be confident enough to venture out in a new swimsuit in my new body!  Heck, I might find one that fits!!

Your so funny! . .  you will find one that fits with no problem.  My neighbor was teasing me to cover myself up the other day . . but I was in my own back yard and  he was on his roof . . stalker . .lol

I still haven't met my goal weight but am still working on it . . you will find confidence you never knew possible.

Good Morning!

I agree that everyone is enjoying the summer but I love to check in when possible.  I started my morning with a cup of protein tea.   I actually went for a walk this morning before I got ready for work. . . it was a great morning for a walk.

QOTD - No I don't swim I wade . .  I only go swimming a few times a year and I just tread water . . I am a shallow end of the pool kind of girl . .  don't like to get my ears or hair wet . . I'm such a baby . . lol  . .  I am also a lounge-er . . . I love to be by the water . . just not in the water.

Morning BM and all,

Finished my shake, now on to iced tea.

Well I got my labs back yesterday and DAMN this surgery is amazing!  My cholesterol was 152, and my triglycerides were 45 (back in the day they were over 450, yikes!!!)  My avg. blood sugar was 100, AVG, my fastings used to be 175-225 on two meds!  The only thing he wants me to work on is my Vit K and carotene, which is going to be tough, the foods in those categories are spinach (which I like but could not way eat the quantity required), kale, turnip greens....are you jealous yet LOL!  Luckily there is sweet potatoes too, so I can handle that, but he wants me to juice the greens and put them in my yummy shakes which means my yummy shakes won't be yummy anymore, but I'll do what I have to :(.  Because of my RNY I now LOVE going to the Dr's to check on my labs, it used to be the most dreaded thing I ever did.....never got good news!  Anyways just wanted to share my happiness!

Q:  The biggest thing I miss about AZ is my pool....I had a pool my entire childhood all the way up to moving here, now the only time I swim is in the Caribbean on vaca.  I do miss having a pool.  BTW I was more of a floater than a swimmer too!

Yea I can, but he wants me to try to do this naturally.  His reasoning is foods have other micro nutrients that may help your body absorb all the vitamins in the food more effectively.  For example, there is a study of lung cancer patients that were given supplements vs food, in this case carotene's.  The supplement group improved, but those who ate the foods high in carotene's did better.....so are there micro nutrients that we don't even know about yet in the food that helped our bodies absorb more? 

His 'natural' approach has already helped me.  In the past few months my systolic bp has been going up, pre op I had hbp, but since surgery it's been about 125/78, well lately it's been 130 to 138 over 78/82, so he wanted me to cut back on sodium and add high potassium foods and within 2.5 weeks my bp was 122/75, so it worked and I just had to cut out some processed foods and cut down on my pretzel intake :), and I added raisins to my salad,  1 banana a day, a sweet potato here and there....and it improved my bp!  Yea no meds for me !!!
Anyways, sorry for the long answer, but that's why I may try green shakes :).

Good morning!  I'm at my inlaws.  Dub and I headed out early this AM and made a stop at Target.  Spent about an hour meandering around the store looking for things to buy.  LOL!   Had some coffee and some vanilla yogurt with Dub this AM.  Not very hungry, yet today.  Blah...

QOTD:  Yes, I know how to swim.  We have a pool so we swim often in that.  With Dub, I don't really swim, but rather carry him around with me.  We also swim at the lake when we can on our boat.   Dub's not too crazy about being the lake because he just doesn't like to wear a life jacket.

Sorry haven't been on a lot right now
I have to clients that I am setting up and it is a mess the other instructor dumped them with a lot of classes to be taught. after a few weeks it will get better I need to tame this mess that was left behind.
