Help ~ piece of chicken is stuck
Hi everyone!!
It's been a while!! I'm doing good with my weight loss. I'm down from 309 (in October, 2009) and 279 (day of surgery) to 213!! I feel GREAT.
But, I have a problem:
My daughter works at McDonalds and last night she brought home some chicken tenders. Well, I decided to take a bite of one. Well, I took too big of a bite, then for some reason didn't chew much of it and then I swallowed it. I don't know what I was thinking. I knew the second I swallowed I was introble. It is stuck. I can feel it. It is still there. It happened last night around midnight. I haven't eaten anything all day. I have had 2 protein drinks and popsicles and water. I have gotten in my protein amount, so I'm not worried there. I am affraid to eat any food because I'm affraid if I add more food down there, it wont go down either and I will be in BIG trouble. I feel it starting to come back up just a bit, but then I can't take it no more and I have to swallow the saliva and then it goes back down and is stuck there again. I can't get it to move up or down.
Any help or suggestions as what to do???
I hate throwing up, so I can't bring myself to sticking my finger down my throat.
Thanks in advance,
God Bless,
Tari

I have read on hear when meat gets stuck you can disolve meat tenderizer in some warm water (and maybe lemon juice?? I'll search for the post that gave the recipie. Apparently it really helps! That and Papya enzymes I think it is. Let me search and I'll re post! Help is on the way - LOL!

Thanks for the help!!
Were you able to find that receipe? I'm ready to try that. LOL
I posted this same post on the RNY forum and someone else mentioned about the Papya enzymes. I have never heard of them. What do I do with it and what will happen when I use it? Does it make me throw up?
Thank you for the help!!

Someone posted on this exact subject earlier today (down farther in the posts) and this is what her surgeon recommended. Hope you are feeling better!!
1/2 teaspoon Adolph's unseasoned meat tenderizer
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 cup tap water
Mix well and sip slowly

Yup, it is still stuck. When I laid down last night on my right side I could feel it creeping up my throat, but then I had to swallow, so it went back down and is still stuck. ARGGGG
Thanks for finding this recipe!! I am making my way to walmart tomorrow and I will get this stuff and also the Papya enzymes.
Question about the meat tenderizer way: will it make me throw up or does it dissolve the chicken so it will go down?
Thank you so much for your help!

Tara,
I thinkk it disolves it and doesn'tmakes you throw up. I have never tried it to be honest with you because when things have gotten stuck with me I usually end up throwing up and instantly feeling better.
That's a long time to have something stuck!! Let us know if it works!

The piece of chicken is still there. I am going to Walmart tomorrow to get these tablets!!
Hope they work.
I'm going to get the stuff from Nan also (the meat tenderizer reciepe)!! Between both of those I hope one will work. I haven't eaten anything again today ~ but I did get in protein drinks, so I'm good again today in that area.
Thank you for your help,

Well, for me... It is probably not normal and I KNOW I need to see my doc... But I have this issue a couple time a week even thought I am almost 4 years out... I can tell just shortly after I take the bite that I didn't chew good enough.... and I go to the bathroom, lean over and it comes up within a minute or two.... Even if I try to stick my finger down my throat that doesn't work.. I have to let it happen on it's own....
I find when I have food that is just toooooooo good... I eat toooooo fast and that happens... I STILL have to make a conscious effort to remind myself to CHEW CHEW CHEW!!!!!!
I have even found more recently with pasta it is even happening, so I know I need to make that call to have it checked out.... but in your case I am sure it is just an issue of not chewing good enough... so if the recipe of the tenderizer doesn't work, the only way out is UP!!!!!...
Good LUCK Sweetie... Hope you are feeling better soon....
