I have my barriatric medical physical and my psych eval this week. Then next week I meet with the surgeon.
I have read through the many posts and it seems like some have specific pre op testing. My girlfriend had a EGD, and colonoscopy but she said it was because she was over 50.
Can anyone let me know if there is a routine tests that they require you to have?

Thanks
Erin

Like everything else here, every doctor is different.  The only people who might be able to answer your question would be people who are having their procedure w/ Dr. Foote, and that may even depend on the type of procedure your having, your age and you past medical history.

Wow, that was helpful :).  I feel like one of those phone reps who can't help you but end the call with "is there anything else I can do for you" :).

I am with GHP aslo and after my physical I had to have lab work done (it seemed that they took a lot of tubes of blood at that one) and an EGD.  The EGD was becuase I have bad reflux.  It turned out I have a hiatal hernia that will be addressed during my surgery.  I met with the surgeon and had my psych eval.  Now I am just waiting on the paperwork to come through from the insurance company.

I don't mind the testing and all because I think it gives a much clearer picture of my overall health.  Do you have a surgery date yet and what type of WSL are you considering?

Best wishes to you!

I had so much blood taken, I questioned if they left any in! I also had an EKG, psych eval, chest xray and a body GEM.

Good luck to you!
