Flint-area support group(s)?

Hi folks! I don't actually remember if I've ever found the Michigan forum before now... not that I remember though, so HI!

I live in Grand Blanc and I'm wondering, other than at Hurley, if there are any other support groups in the area. Nothing wrong with Hurley, but I'd like other options as well. My surgeon has them but only once a month, and not in the summer, and they're 45 minutes away.

Hi!

Pam T, Pam, and Nan (that I know of), I'm sure there are many more) have a 'tri-city" meeting....beyond that Pam T is very active with the Hurley group too and on the RNY board (but she's on vaca this week).

Your in great hands in that "mid" state, as far a meetings go, in fact I'm quite jealous !

Thanks, Edie! I'll contact them soon. Do you have a support group? I work in Clarkston and my surgeon's group meets in the building just north of P.O.H., so that's not too far from you. I'm pretty sure they're open to everyone also, if you're interested.

Personally no I don't have a support group (that's why I'm jealous of the mid Michigan girls, besides the fact that their great girls and I'd like to see them more :) ). I had my surgery through Beaumont and I don't like the support group I ended up with (through Uni Source). Plus I just changed doctors. My weight loss Dr. left the practice I went to pre-op about the same time I had surgery and moved to Fla. for a year (I'm guessing he had a no-compete clause) and now he's back so I'm going to him, he's through St. Jo's in Pontiac. They have a support group, but it's every other Monday (or monthly I don't remember) at 6:30. I work in Bloomfield Hills (about 3 blks from St. Jo's) and I don't want to get off work at 5, get home by 5:30 to then come back 40 minutes later 3 blocks from where I was just left :).

Do you go to the one north of POH? Is it a good one? When is it? If you go I might want to try it out. Let me know.

Oh yea, where do you work in Clarkston? Maybe we can get together. Pam T works at the County buildings on Telegraph, maybe she can meet up with us too.

I know McLaren has support groups check out their website for dates. They also have groups in Clarkston. However, they don't have those on the website. You could probably call the office for more information.

Hi Stacy,

I had my surgery at Hurley and don't go to the support groups, well just because I don't have time for the one hour drive for the meetings. I go to Pam T's support group in Bay City. So does Kristy form the MI board. Like Edie said, Pam is a great leader and I feel very lucky to be close enough to go to her monthly meetings, although lately my life has been sooooooo busy I have not been to one in a few months and I miss going!!

You should definitely meet up with Edie sometime - she's an awesome lady! I met her back in April - what a sweatheart. And Pam T, well you just can't say enough about her!!

awww thanks! We'll have to get together after the wedding and your life slows back down....but now that I think of it you'll be quite the traveler, we'll have to figure out what exit your closest too one day that has a decent restaurant and see ya there :).
