Hump Day Coffee
OK DEB where are you . . .
I miss the morning post, I was checking everyday to see if anyone had started a thread so I have decided to just go for it if no one else has!
I am nursing a swollen knee this morning came down off the curb wrong during last nights walk . . so I am being a baby this morning.
QOTD - Do you eat more veggies in the summer than winter? Do you can or freeze them for the winter months?
I got a veggie basket for my grill and have been grilling a basket of veggies almost every two days, yellow & red peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes . . and a little sugar free BBQ sauce wow they are great. I have also been grilling summer squash with a spray of olive oil, garlic and a little parmesan cheese . . . yum! . . now I am hungry!
Enjoy your day!
Kristy
I broke my little toe on my left foor the other day. I kicked a baby gate that was leaned up against the wall (not in it's usual storage spot). My little pinky toe was actually pointing away from the other toes. Ouch. It's all bruised. The swelling has gone down and it's on the mend. Like your misstep off the curb, such a minor incident slows you way down.
QOTD: I don't know if I eat more veggies overall in the summer, but I do definitely eat more FRESH veggies in the summer. I never was a fan of green peppers so I naturally assumed I wouldn't like red peppers either. Well, that was until we started grilling them about 5 years ago. OMG! I love grilled red bell peppers. Grilled corn on the cob is awesome, too. I'll throw any veggies on the grill, now!

The veggie question peaked my interest. I LOVE my summer veggies. I grow a small garden and there is a farmer's market right down the street from my house. My problem this year is my surgery is scheduled for August 16th and I'll be missing the peak times for my garden!!! I guess I'll be canning and freezing most things this year. (A small price to pay!)
Have a good day everyone!!!!

Yea where is Deb??? Don't get me wrong, Kristy is doing a great job, just wondering where Deb has been. I usually don't get on here till after 11:00 so I could do a lunch post, but an early one, sorry I can't do that.
Q: I do love summer veges and fruit (mostly fruit :) ). I have been eating allot of blueberries lately, we actually picked a small bowls worth out of our backyard last night and our blackberries are almost ready to pop, we're going to have a TON of them this year....I can't wait! Plus the whole garden is doing great this year.
Have a great healthy day all,
Edie

QOTD: Stitch loves veggies more than meat. the fresher and crunchier the better. I really like to grill asparagus stalks. I sprinkle them with some salad sensations and some olive oil. put em in a tinfoil pouch and mmmmm mmmmm Good. Some times I add some bacon strips too them and let them cook on a flat aluminum pan on top the BBQ too . Until the bacon is crispy. Sooooooooooooo Good.
Not up to much today. just hanging out at the house.
Maybe I will start the clean out of our trailer and wash the walls and cupboards down in it.
Have a fun day!

I love veggies and fruit.....The melons have been great this year,,,was disappointed with the cherries, but, the blackberries are yummy.... I love corn, we have a small road side stand we go to every year and he just started getting corn in this past weekend....Yea, it is what summer is about...
Hey Edie, How's the puppies? My guy is now 4 months old and 32 pounds. I think the weight is from all of the rocks he eats.....But, he is a good boy. He has been my company this week. My hubby took my 10 yr old grandson on a motorcycle trip up north, so he has been my company.....
Hi Kristy. I check often in the mornings and wait for someone else to post....
Veggies on the grill? Love'em but I don't cook them. I like it when someone else does it for me. Love grilled zucchini, peppers, onions, tomatoes, etc. I need to get me some green tomatoes for green friend tomatoes - something I acquired a taste for many many years ago and indulge in a few during the summer. Have yet to have some fresh corn. When I was in the Flint area last weekend I saw quite a few corn stands, they're not out up here yet - should be soon,

Yesterday was busy for me. I went shopping for a care package for my daughter. I posted a Northville post before. I was vague, since this is a public forum, but feel braver now. My daughter is in Northville in the youth psychiatric hospital. They are hoping she will be home in September. It's been really hard. Then they put her on a diet and exercise program. I know it's good for her but still...
QOTD-I eat less veggies in the summer but more fresh fruit. That is because I am on the go more and it just works out that way. Don't get me wrong I love both. There is hardly a f/v I don't like. In the winter I eat more veggies but obviously they aren't fresh. That is a good idea about freezing them from summer though.
Looking forward to a thread today ;)
