Thanks for the words of wisdom from the trenches ladies! It looks like dumping is unavoidable and I'm just gonna have to figure it out for myself.

Christina--Congratulations on the bun in the oven! Is this your first child? We have a two year old daughter, and in two years out from my surgery, we are hoping to have another. I will be interested to hear how having had RNY affects your pregnancy.  I hope it's going smoothly for you.

I'm a dumper.  I was told to stay below 5 grams of sugar per serving, and I try to.  I also dump on fats.  I also dump on fruit sugars - last year watermelon had me down for the count... I was SO bummed when I realized it was dumping I was having with it - I LOVE watermelon.  So this year, its very small portions.  Dumping IS avoidable, if you stay away from the problematic foods.  We will all test ourselves eventually, but I will advise to wait for quite awhile before you do.  I'm still convinced I will dump on a cookie - so I don't eat them (even though I probably could).

I also have developed Reactive Hypoglycemia.  It kinda feels like dumping, but can be worse.  I fainted Tuesday from it.  A cause is from your food emptying from your pouch to your intestines too quickly.  I know my trigger is processed carbs washed down with an alcoholic beverage (was out to eat at a Mexican Restaurant).  I WON'T be doing that again!  I developed a bad headache, came home, went to bed, got up 2 1/2 hrs later and went to the kitchen to get something to drink and fainted from a standing up position.  Now my butt hurts - lol.  I need to get a glucose monitor so I can see where my blood sugar is during those times.

You won't be eating a large Wendy's chili anytime soon.  You can eat the small ones and it won't have that much.  I was a year out and was just able to choke down an entire small one.

Hi, I just read your post about hoping to have another baby once you are two years out from surgery.  I'd suggest looking for Andrea U (http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/aullberg/) who hangs out on the main board.  She has a lot of great information about vitamins but has also had a baby or two since her RNY.  I think she could probably provide you with a lot of valuable information as well.

Best wishes on your journey.
