Ok so we always camp near South Haven MI. This year however my has had RNY about 8wk post-op once we head that way the end of July. Question is!!!!! Can anyone tell us where the nearest hospital is that will have a clue as to how to take care of af a barri patient? She will go on regular food while we are on vacation and so we thought it might a good idea to know where to head to if something gets stuck!!! Sorry all I would not normaly post on the MI page, I hope that you will forgive me if this is out of line.

Your not out of line at all, in fact I think your pretty darn smart.  I however, can't answer your question since I live of the other side of the state!  I'm sure others will be able to answer your question though.

Enjoy Michigan, we do!  If you have an opportunity, I'd suggest visiting Sagatuck, it's quite a cute little town!

Again, enjoy,

I think we have visited Sagatuck? There seems to be a Dunn buggy place in Douglas that is near there. I think anyhow? We have been going to South Haven for our entire marriage we just love the little town. However for the first time ever my wife is excited about riding some of the KalHaven trail. Which I an thrilled about as well. We just don't want to get there and not know where to get help if we need it, and if MI is like Indiana not all hospitals are created equally when it comes to berri patients. Anyhow thanks for the reply.

All the hospital is Grand Rapids can deal with that no problem... But you will be a good thirty to forty-five minutes away form GR.

I had my surgery at North Ottawa Community Hospital in Grand Haven.  My doctor is located in Holland but does the surgery up in Grand Haven.  I would think with all the surgeries he does there that they have had experience with emergencies up there as well as going to Grand Rapids as previously commented on.

Spectrum Health Blodgett campus and St. Mary's is where most of the bariatric surgeries are done. The Blodgett campus had a floor dedicated specifically for bariatric patients

I would recommend Dr. Kemmeter and going to Saint Mary's downtown GR. Hopefully you won't need anything, but it's good to plan ahead!
