Does anyone know if Dr. Kemmeter performs revisions from RNY to a "true" DS?

All I know is I asked about a revision, and he said he could do one that would add more malnutrition, but he also said it's not a DS.

I just realized I wrote malnutrition, it should say malabsorption...

I am definately going to talk to him about some kind of a revision.  I've not lost the weight I should have, but then I'm 71 yrs old and I do know that is a factor.

Thanks Pam and everyone for your replies on the carbs.   I have cut out all breads, crackers, and cookies, so the only carbs I am getting are from my oatmeal (wt control brand), and fruits and veggies.

I know he has revised people from the lap band over to another WLS...I would definitley call his office to ask.  He is a great surgeon IMO...

the only way to have the correct answer is through his ofice. a ds is a sleeve with intestinal rerouting . i am a 2 part ds i have the sleeve and if i choose to i can have second part intestinal rerouting.so to somewhat answer yuur question , because a true ds is based on having gastric sleeve and intestinal rerouting. so your rny could be revised im sure but it would not be a traditional d.s. .not to say there are not wonderfull options there and dr kemter is awesome surgeon and his office is wonderfull to work with,

No, he does not.  He will not take down the pouch, create a sleeve, and then to the new intestinal configuration.  What he would do is a ERnY --- and I would HIGHLY recommend against it!

For a RnY to DS revision, you will need a very experienced surgeon, one experienced with revisions.  Your only two vetted options at this time are Dr. Rabkin in San Francisco and Dr. K is southern California.  Rabkin is in Chicago almost monthly for his local support group meeting -- he has 100s of DS patients in the Chicago area, and is very highly regarded.  I would start with him.

The other option is Dr. Greenbaum in NJ, but his list of RnYers seeking revisions is VERY long, and he is backing off "fixing" other surgeon's mistakes and seeking a balance with virgin DSs, so he is booked months & months out for a revision.  Until Gagner is set up in Quebec, these are really the only options I would consider for myself.
