Good Morning Michiganders!
So glad to be back on the forum. Had a last minute trip to Pittsburgh last week for work. Good to be home. What's brewing with you this morning? Black and decaf for me!
Coming off a great local experience last night-Pres Obama at K-Central's graduation. What a neat thing for the grads and all of us in Kalamazoo...
QOTD-What are you changing to keep you on track with your WL goals? I'm journaling, again and I'm not weighing myself everyday-just once a week. I really became too casual with my food and it started to show... So back to be more disciplined..
Yesterday Al Roker, Today Show weatherman showed how hard he has to work post-RNY. It was a good example for all of us. Weight management is a life-long thing!!!!!!
Have a good one

Good morning Deb and everyone,

Drinking regular coffee this morning with Hazelnut SF creamer and splenda.  How nice about Pres Obama speaking at the graduation!  Steve and I's sons both had commencement ceremonies this weekend so we sat through two!  And his son's party was this past weekend and my son's this coming weekend.  Then we are done - and officially have 5 kids in college :-)

QOTD:  I'm just starting the maintainence phase of this WL journey so for me it's trying to figure out how to stop losing without gaining.  I have been buying way too many snacky type of foods like pretzels, crackers, chips, etc so I am changing that.  I now just buy a very small individual sized bag of pretzels if I want them instead of a big bag.

Have a great day everyone!

Nan

Good morning all!

I had to go check out the Al Roker piece... for those interested, here's the video
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/37550535/ns/today-today_health /#37550822
Isn't it interesting that he's saying exactly what so many of us always say. It's a damn hard journey and a lot of it is all mental... plus even when we do lose the weight, we still see the fat guy in the mirror.  Very good video.

Had a great time at the support group meeting last night.  So glad I got to meet Jody and others from OH who came out for the meeting last night.  The presentation ("Measuring Your Success without the Scale") will be up online later today for all to see and read.

QOTD -- at the meeting last night I confessed my afternoon Artic Orange Milkshake from McDonalds. Yikes!  Not a good tummy feeling after that transgression.  I thought it was dumping, but looking back, I think it was more like a bout of lactose intolerance.  But whatever it was... no more milkshakes for me, no siree!  That was my first in 2.5+ years, and I have no desire for another one.  Not sure if that's really answering the question or not -- I don't feel like I'm "off track" necessarily.  Sometimes I eat things that aren't exactly on the straight and narrow, but that's just pat of being human.  If it gets out of hand then  yes, I'll whip myself back into shape... but for now I'm just living my life and making healthy choices 90% of the time (which has always been my goal).

Have a good one all!

Good Morning everyone!

Isn't it a beautiful day?  I made up some of Kristy's protein tea mix and had a cup this morning.  It is very good.

Last week my oldest grandson graduated and had his open house on Saturday.  It was really nice.  I enjoyed having the whole family together.  That doesn't happen too often these days.

I will let you in on a little secret...  Today I weighed 199.5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm sure it won't last.  It will see-saw back and forth until it decides to stay out of the 200's, but it's great to see that on the scale.  No, I don't remember last time I was under 200.

I was looking at Nik's blog that someone put up a couple days ago.  It was about the mental things that go along with trying to lose weight.  The thing that caught my attention was the statement that 'being hungry is not an emergency'.   OMG that is exactly the way I was treating it and anytime I felt hungry I would eat a little bit of this and a little bit of that.  Just recognizing that it's not an emergency allows me to better control what and when I am eating.

Have a good one.

199.5!!!  WooHoo!  Congratulations on making it to ONEderland.  :-)

I've also been meaning to ask you about your lab tests.  It was PTH, right?  Did the docs figure out what was going on?

Thanks Pam!

I really don't know what is going on with my calcium and PTH yet.  I had cut down on my calcium but I got a call from the kidney doctor to discontinue all calcium supplements, so I did.  On June 14th, I will be having another blood test so we'll see how the results are then.  I am going back to the kidney doctor on July 1st.  It's so hard to know what to do.

Thank you Edie!

Okay, I haven't been to the driving range yet.  I might as well just try it.  You're not going to make me do 18 holes on my first venture out are you?  Let's take a look at the weather report and see if we can schedule something.  Can you ever go during the week?  Where do you want to go?

I will try to get someone to take my picture.

I actually prefer 9.

As for weekdays I can leave work early (M, W, and F are best), I just have to schedule it around my front office girls.  And of course weekends work well for me.  I see you live in Warren, I live in Clarkston and work in Bloomfield Hills.  Any ideas??  I could meet you anywhere, let me know.
