QOTD: What do you think about the protein report? Will you consult your doctor about an alternative, or the most trusted protein powder

Good morning everyone !

I had a great weekend, spent it up north in the rain with all of our family !  Loved it !  (ok so we were really wet and muddy, but hey, we were with those we love!)

QOTD:  I use the protein sold by my doctors office so I'm not worried about it.  But I love when someone runs across stuff like this and passes it on, we all don't see the same articles! (thanks Mary)

Good Morning Mary,

Already got my walk in with my dog Leo.  Also had a tunafish sammich.

qotd:  I dont use protein supplements any longer since I am three years out.  I get my protein from regular foods, so the article doesnt really apply to me.

I still use protein powder, usually once a day and only a half a serving.  I do not think I have ever done 3 full servings in a day. The calories in that would be outrageous.  I have done 2 half servings in day,but rarely. It is hard to believe what the news says all the time.  It may have all these things in it but I think they blow things way out of proportion at times.  I think moderation in everything we do is the key.  But a good conversation it is.

I rode my bike for almost 3 miles today.

Personally I have not looked into it, I only do 1 shake a day so I'm not too worried about it.  From what I've read on my Yahoo groups, the consensus is that they only tested a few protein manufacturers and of those, not the better quality ones and ultimately you buy crap you get crap.  In other words don't try to get the best deal or cheapest brand because that's what you'll get, the cheapest quality.  But that's true about everything isn't it?

I follow the rule of "protein first" in my diet, and haven't used protein supplements since the early days after surgery.
