Good Morning Michigan

Got up early and did some reading on the net. getting going on a Bike Ride 5.5. miles.
Had a double protein coffee this am. nothing special just vanilla and splenda.

I came across a posed questions about slider foods after Weight loss surgery. But there was no specific definition or list of examples or any information on how it can help or hinder your success. Henceforth today's question:

QOTD: Do you know of any articles on the net that describe WLS slider foods and gives concrete examples? What are the sites URL?

Thanks for your help

Slider foods are pretty easy to recognize-
Foods that aren't nutrient-dense that can be munched down to "dust" and just slide right through the pouch.
This little article gives some good examples, such as crackers, Cheetos, etc.

This little blurb also lists some sliders, but includes those that might work for us, such as chili and cottage cheese.  These are good slider foods, for when pouchie poo is being snotty and doesn't want to have anything heavy in it.

Great links Brenda - very good info on both.
My general rule of thumb for knowing the difference in dense food or slider food is this:

If you put the food in a glass of water, what happens to it?  If it melts and dissolves easily, it's a slider food.  If it sits there and still looks like it's original form for a long time, it's a dense food. So put a grilled chicken breast in a glass of water, it remains a recognizable chicken breast.  But put a cracker or scoop of mashed potatoes in a glass of water and it'll disappear very quickly and melt away.

So dense food fills up the pouch and stays there until you start drinking again after a meal.  Slider foods slide straight through your pouch without staying there to give you satiety.

BIG THANKS BRENDA AND PAM
I just knew you would come through

I need some proof for a person from a different support group that was in disagreement of the fact that slider foods could also be good for us. like cottage cheese. She was under the impression that only things like carb ridden foods , pretzels, crackers, milk shakes, were considered Slider foods. Just wanted to send good information so it was know we were both half right or wrong.

appreciate the back up.

thanks a bunch. with the concrete evidence.
