Leaving Michigan

Hi fellow Michiganders:

I have been a part of your wonderful state for 10 years and thought I'd settle down here for the rest of my life, until I retired. Well, life threw me a curveball and I got laid off in February. I thought I wouldn't find another job, but last week I had an interview with a newspaper in Louisiana and amazingly, I was hired to be a copy editor in Monroe, La., ... at my age, 55.

So on June 19, I will leave what has been my home for 10 years, the longest of my adult life, and head South to Louisiana for a new home and a new adventure. Michigan gave me a new life after bariatric surgery ... it saved my life.

I'm going to miss Michigan ... this has been a great 10 years.

Congrats on the job. The weather will be a nice change of pace as well.  I wonder what shrimp gumbo tastes like?

I had gumbo when I was down there ... crawfish (kind of like shrimp), chicken and sausage ... kind of like a thick soup, a little spicy, too much rice. It was good, but like I said, too much rice.

So many talented folks are leaving our beautiful state, and sadly, you have to go where the job is.  Have fun in Loiuisiana and think of us up here come January.  Best wishes

Congratulations on the new job good for you!
You deserve something good.

but I think Michigan is begining to feel that sucking sensation that Ross Perot spoke of when he ran for president. Too bad his ears were so big.
We are losing a lot of those people that keep this state moving.

Good luck on the new job.
come back and vist us on the MI OH forum'

You will love Louisiana....and the people, I can say that after all I am one of them. I miss hime terribly. If I didn't have my beautiful grandbabies here and my wonderful daughter I'd go back in a heart beat.....Enjoy it....
