Hi my fellow michiganders,

Well its happening and i knew it was gonna creep up on me eventually
due to some very poor choices i have made over the past few months or so
my weight has slowly been creeping up and unfortuantly i have had ZERO motivation
to get out and get any kind of excerise....i did go back to my surgeons office on
wednesday to talk to the behavorist and it helped open my eyes quite a bit
i have come to the realization that if i continue down this path im gonna end up
back at 400lbs again and i dont wanna do that.....i could really use some support right now folks
i am attending a support group meeting once a month but i need a lil big more encouragement
was wondering if any folks out that had any words of wisdom or would possibly want to meet and talk with me.....i entertain all offers and words....

thanks a bunch guys

I am right with you Ryan.  I have gained about 10 lbs in the past year, basically because I reintroduced sugar into my diet.  I have given myself a small goal - want to be down 1 size by the first day of summer.  It is a very doable goal.  Because I want to reach this goal, I have made some concious decisions about what I need to do to get there.

Maybe that is something you can also do.

What support group do you go to?  Are you in the Grand Rapids area.  I am three years out from my surgery and have never gone to a support group meeting.  I am seriously thinking of going to the next one I they have at Grand Health Partners.  I think that will help me mentally.

I am going to be there on the 7th.  I am really struggling right now and hope that this will help me get back on track.  Hopefully I will see you there.  A friend of mine - Tracy Payne - also goes to that one.

Hi Ryan,
Just so I understand....you are post-op, right?  I was a little confused after reading your answer to Sandi.
I have a few words of advice for you:
First, it is great that you are realizing this now, instead of ignoring it and waking up one morning and thinking..."How did I get back here???"
Next, while you are putting your plan of action in to place, start walking.  If you walk every day, starting today, then it makes it easier to implement any other changes you make in the future.  You will just feel good about yourself, and that makes it harder to make bad choices.  I know all about not being motivated!  Just set yourself up for 10 minutes a day.  Do that for one week straight.  If you stick to it for a week, that may give you the push to keep going the next week.  So then add 5 minutes.  Pretty soon you will be in a routine and feeling great.
I'm going to give you some advice that works for me, but maybe not for everyone.  I chew gum all day long at home.  It keeps me from snacking because I don't want to mix the food and gum.  That helped a lot with the mindless grazing during the day.  I had RNY so I have to be careful I don't swallow the gum! :)
If you want to check in here every day to keep yourself accountable, then do that.  Just start a new post and list what you did to keep yourself on track.  Even if you talk about what you did that wasn't go great....we can all learn from others.
All isn't lost, so don't feel defeated!!

And Brenda comes through again, with wonderful words of wisdom!
