Ok, guys.  By not keeping up the coffee thread you are going to make the Holland group think we can't handle things without them.  We don't want that, do we?
I wonder how they are doing out there in the rain.  I am ok walking in the rain, but camping, that is another story.  I hate having my stuff damp.  So I'm enjoying the rain from my couch today.

QOTD-what's for dinner tonight?  My son asked for ribs, so I went in search of a new recipe.  I found one from Alton Brown on Food Network.  It calls for brown sugar in the rub (I used Splenda BS) and margarita mix for the braising liquid (I used Billy Bob's Sugar Free).  You have to cook them low n slow for 2 hours, then make a glaze from the liquid, then grill them.  I hope they taste good after all this work!

Hope you all stay dry, stay happy, and have a great day!

Morning Bren and all to follow,

Those ribs sound good, when should we be there? :)  Also, I read on FB that you got to sleep in the past 2 nights...good for you.  Yea Nick.

When the weather is so nice I'm rarely on line on the weekends, but your right we need to get on here and keep the coffee thread going.

Q:  Not even on my radar yet.  Had a really good steak last night with potato and salad, it was pretty yummy.  But tonight, dunno yet!

Hope our walkers had a good time yesterday....how was it guys?  I'm sure Pam and Mary will have pics for us, right girls???

Have a great day,
Edie

Good Morning Brenda,
I've already been out walking the dog and then me and the kids went for a bike ride.  It was damp, but not raining.  I am with you about the whole camping thing.  Unless its in July and not humid, I wont camp.

q:  I made a big pot of chili last night, so we will probably have that again.

Hey Bren, love ribs, but we're headed to Polish Village Cafe in Hamtramck for some great polish cuisine!  Dill pickle soup, pierogi, golabki, kraut and whatever else tickles our fancy.  I made ribs last week, cooked them covered, in the oven at 300 for about 4 hours and then put Sweet Baby Ray's on them and grilled them.  We ate off of them for two days and I'm ready for them again.  I know Sweet Baby Ray's has sugar, but I can tolerate it and it's just soooo good.  You can be sure your ribs will be delicious.  Low and slow is the only way to go...
It has stopped raining here (in Warren) and I just got in from spreading grass seed on my son's lawn.  My fingers are all stained blue now, because the seed had some feed in with it that was colored blue.  I washed and used a brush on them, and they still have a light blue tinge on the fingers..
Hope the Holland bunch had a great time, in spite of the rain.

Were Back

had a campfire with Cheryl and her mother and aunt on Friday night. Kristy and Pam  said originally that they may stop by but called to say they were already in their Jammie's and would not make it.

We met at the 5K at around 7ish the race started at 8. I passed out Brenda's Powder to every one, we began the race together but Kristy and Pam are much faster(left us in their dust) then Cheryl and I . so as Cheryl and I crossed the finish line, Kristy and Pam were there cheering us across. Cheryl and I were the last of the 5Kers to finish. As a matter of fact they where pulling the 5K signs in as we passed them. LOL.

I finally did one official race. and I finished it. last but I finnished it. Could not have done this one year ago.

We had lunch in an outdoor patio of an Irish pub and after Pam and Kristy were on going to go home. So Cheryl and her family and My hubby and I walked down to the craft fair. (MORE WALKING)  As we looked at the crafts  Cheryl's group and My DH and I sort of drifted apart. We would pass each other up in the isles every  so often. then we saw Cheryl and she said she saw Kristy and Pam and they could not find their car. (hay dude where did I park the car) about 5 minutes later I saw them looking for their car, during our chatabout that Kristy, must have remembered a land mark of where the car was so they went on and DH and I started (MORE WALKING) to our vehicle. After I got into my truck I called to see if Kristy and Pam got to their car, they said they did and were one the road home.

DH and I left for home trailer in tow this am and Cheryl and  her family are staying one more day so they Can enjoy a hot air balloon ride tomorrow.

It was fun sorry you all missed it.
Hope you can join us next time.
I think we should plan some thing around  Lancing or Saginaw, (Midland maybe) next time,
What do you all think.
And what kind of activities are in that area and when would be a good time to have the next one.

I think August is out cause I am planning the OH conference in OH.

Hi eveyone!

Kind of late for me to reply to the coffee thread but I just sat down for the day.  I stayed in Chelsea til about noon then went to see my daughter in Ypsi.  She made it through her first week of the liquid diet!!  Yay!!  She was having a hard time yesterday, but she didn't cheat!  One week from tomorrow and I'll be sitting in the waiting room while she's having her surgery!!

Steve's son had prom this weekend (I'll post a picture on my profile of the kids and Steve and I).  The time of pictures it wasn't raining so that was good!

Brenda - the ribs sound soooooo good. I just made a big pot of chili to have for the week.

By the time I get this typed and posted, it will be just after midnight.  LOL!  I haven't been online today and not much at all yesterday.  We've been putting the finishing touches on our basement.  It's mostly done.   The rain prevented us from getting the doors and windows painted, but other than that, it's done.  We are loving it.  Not sure why we waited so long to re-do it...maybe cuz it was the first room we 're-did' when we moved in 10 years ago!

I made goulash (sp?  too tired to double check).  Haven't had it in a while and it was pretty darn good.  Ribs sound good, too.  I went through a rib phase not too long ago.  I had my fill, then.

See ya all later today!  NIGHT!

Update on the ribs, because I know you are all glued to your computers waiting to find out:

Using sugar free stuff doesn't make them sticky and charred the way they should be.  The taste was ok, but you can tell that if there would have been the caramelization from the sugar it would have turned out way better.

So now I have some sugar free margarita mix left.  I guess I will have to use it with my pom juice to make a ****tail.  Wouldn't want it to go to waste, right?
