Hello Michiganders !

It is kinda slow here on OH for the Michigan group.  Hope everyone is doing ok.  Drinking my strong black coffee.

Yesterday was a day where I was so greatful that I work from home.  I was able to watch two of my Grandsons at my house because they were ill and their mother needed to go to school.  They are 9 and 6 so it was not to bad, the oldest was the sickest and never left the couch, double ear infection, the younger one was a sinus infection and the dr wanted him home for at least one day, he was bouncing off the walls...LOL .  I was just around the corner in my office so I attempted to work but it wasn't easy.  I do love the fact that I can be hear for my children and their children.

Sally hope you don't get there infections.

So you have mentioned working at home a few times now. I was just wondering what type of work you do? and how did you get hooked up to work from home?  I am sure that their are a few of us that are interrested in this process.

QOTD: How would you like to work from home?  And do you think you would be self disciplined enought to get the work completed?

I am basically a programmer for 401(k)'s.  I originally worked in an office in Kalamazoo but our business left that office and they laid off about 2/3's of the office and the other 1/3 of us found another position within the same company but with the ability to work from home.  I love it !  Wear comfy clothes take my shower at the end of my day, get real clothes on in time for supper or whatever and no, I don't sign on to the work pc at night unless I have extra work to do.  I use my personal pc for personal stuff, can't use my work one, need to keep my job.  I have done this for 14 months now.

QOTD: Love It, yes, I can be self disciplined and since there is no water cooler to walk to, nobody walking up to your desk, you get more done.  Obstacles - training, it is all done using instant messaging or conference calls, it is harder to learn that way (or I am just getting to old).

Good morning Sally!

Just finished my cup of regular coffee with SF Caramel creamer and a splash of cinnamon dulce SF Starbucks flavoring.  Ok, I really can't call it a cup, it's a 20 ounce mug - LOL, but it sure tastes good every morning.

That's nice that you can work from home,  After I get married in August, my new 'home' will be in Chelsea even though I am from Midland.  I will work from home (Chelsea) 2 days a week so I'll only have to come in the office M-W and be away from home 2 nights a week.  I can't wait to work from home!!  I like the idea of working in my sweats or comfy clothes!  And I actually get more work done from home with less distractions.

Have a good day everyone!

Good morning all!

I just checked the Holland weather for the weekend.  Good news is it's going to be in the 70's all weekend.... bad news is, we're going to get wet.  Bring an umbrella folks!  Oooo -- I think this might be my opportunity to wear my hideously adorable rain boots!

Drinking my usual fake latte this morning. Finished a super delicious "Kristy's Vanilla Caramel Protein Tea" on my drive in to work.  One of my bosses is in training all day (actually all week) so I'm hoping things will be calm around here and I can get some of the procrastinated tasks done.
Have a great day all!

Pam

Drank my decaf tea and now drinking Crystal Light.  Going to the kitchen to grab a yogurt when I'm done here.

QOTD:  I do in fact work from home as a medical transcriptionist.  Well actually, I am more into the QA and training aspect for other transcriptionists.  But I love working from home.  No commute, no business clothes - sometimes I'm in my PJs until after lunch.  I have a dedicated office so it's easy to shut the door and get the work done.  And it works out great when my daughter is sick or doesn't have school - especially for the summer.  I can set my own hours and have the flexibility to fit in doctor appointments, etc.  The bad news is that work is always there and you feel compelled to check your email, just do this little thing at night so it doesn't wait until morning....  sometimes I purposefully don't get on the computer for any reason so I won't check in with my work!  But I consider it a blessing to work from home.

Good morning everyone.

I am a total zombie today.  Some days I wish Deb lived next door to me so she could come by with her energy and optimism and kick me in the pants!

QOTD-I am the worst work at home person ever.  Twice a week, I am supposed to work from home in the afternoons.  On those days, I bust my butt all morning to get stuff done so I can go home and watch trashy TV and play with Nick.  (Sssh...don't tell on me!)  My job (Controller) is not dependent on anyone else.  I am the only one that does the tasks that I do, so if I get behind or slack off, then I can just make up for it later.  I'm very lazy and a huge procrastinator, so a full time job at home would mean disaster for me!

Hope you all have a good day!  Today is one of my leave early days, and I have a whole DVR of shows to watch!

Hello All,

I just got back from the gym and the foot doctor.  The gym was much more fun than the foot doctor.  Stupid planters fasciitis.  Who would have thought that actually walking and being more active would be worse than being 364 pounds on your feet??

QOTD:  I have never worked from home but I do not think it would be a problem for me.  I could be disciplined and do it.
