Toosday
I had a really tough time staying at the hospital and making good food choices. I definitely overloaded on carbs. Wednesday I'm going to start the 5 day pouch test to get myself back on track. Lastnight I caved and ate a brownie. Not a huge piece like I would have done before WLS, but a small piece. Nonetheless, it was a brownie, and I need to stay away from that stuff. Next time I get the urge I've vowed to drink a glass of water first and wait 15 minutes, hopefully the craving will have passed and I'll have won the battle.
Hope everyone has a great day. I'm hoping to catch up with what's been going on while I've been away.
Make the best of this sunny day.

Good morning Jan!
I'm glad to hear everything is back to normal with Josh! I'm sure your son & DIL appreciated having you there!
I can relatie to eating too many carbs. During quarter close they bring in food for 2 weeks straight. Snacky type foods all the time (crackers, chips, pretzels, sweets, etc) and then they bring in lunches and dinners. I eat so much more than I normally do in those 2 weeks just because it's here.
Have a great day everyone!

Hi Jan! Glad to hear all's well with your grandson - those can be scarey times.
I'm also "getting back on track". My scale went UP for the past week+ and now its time to get my behind back in gear. I'm de-carbing, lots of water, lots of protein. Scale was down 3 today - so I got some of my water weight off! Now 3+ more to get to my lowest weight again. Need to nip it in the bud before it becomes a bigger problem.
I was having pouch issus - where I was getting these stabbing feelings of hunger, so I'd eat. I was grazing all day long at work, making bad choices etc. Yesterday morning I was wondering if I should take an antacid.. so I took one of my prescription Prevacids. Yesterday I didn't have that feeling at ALL. Today the same way. So I think I mistook hunger feelings for acid/irritated feelings... does that make sense?
I didn't miss snacking at all last night and didn't feel compelled to browse the cupboards and fridge. I also cut out all alcohol.. so that may have helped too..

I have been busy this morning so haven't had time to post. Yes, the sun is shining but I hope it warms up also. Saturday we are supposed to take a bike ride to Vermontville for their maplefest. We went there last year and it was cold and rainy, we were lucky and the rain really didn't hit until we were in a small town north of here and our lead person got us to a restaurant/ bar just before it let loose. We had fun but were very glad to get home pretty much dry. Loved getting the maple syrup (real stuff), we gave it out to all of our kids and didn't keep much for ourselves since we don't eat many pancakes, waffles, or french toast, unless the grandkids are around !
Have a great day everyone.
You definitely need to get more protein in. Not only does it help with healing, it keeps you going! Mix up a protein drink and just sip at it. I make mine with milk so it's got a little more protein from the milk and calories. If you carry the 8oz glass of protein with you and sip at it, it won't taste so bad for you. You may even find you'll develope a taste for it. I actually enjoy my vanilla protein that I get at Walmart (by Body Fortress) especially when I mix it into a fruit smoothie, and it's 26 grams of protein in one scoop.
Congratulations on taking the step toward a new healthy life. You'll love your results!
