New and in need of HELP!!!
Well were to even begin... I am 35 year old that has always battled with weight issues!!! I have been doing resurch and talking to people for a few years now about WLS!! I finally decided that it is best for me!! I have McLaren Medicaid and wondered how long the process is and what to expect! I have also talked to my PCP and she needs documintation on the weight loss plans I have tried what do they meen by this? I have done weigh****chers but dont have the proof can I get it, if so how... and I have done Nutri system but my parents paid for it so its in my dads name will that work? I have also done atkins L.A. weightloss but again just followed a friends plan that joined!! I also have no major issues do to weight, cholesteral a little high,blood pressure a little high, horrible menstral cycles that I have recently found out has to do to fibroids, but no diabetes or heart conditions ect... even though I should add lung and heart issues run ramped in my family!! How do I do this any help appreciated!! Thanks

First, congrats on your decision to pursue WLS. Which one are you going to have done? There are about four or so available now. The first thing would be to call mclaren and ask them what the criteria is for being approved for WLS. Then if there is a 6 month diet requirement, what I did was logged onto Fitday.com and tracked my food, then saw my PCP every couple of months with reports from fitday printed out. He kept them in my chart and recorded my weight. The visits were specifically for this purpose, nothing else. That was good enough documentation for the insurance company. all they really need is a letter from your doctor saying he supervised you and you followed a meal plan that he recommended....
In the meantime, I would go to as many free seminars as I could for WLS and get the facts on the different types available. also you can narrow down your hospitals and doctors too.
