On one of the other forums someone posted a "roll call" for the pre-op newbies so that we could list some info about ourselves and  introduce ourselves to the board. I thought that would be a really good idea for the this forum so I will start by introducing myself:

Name or Alias: Jazzy

City: Canton

WLS Type: RNY

Surgery Date: Not scheduled yet

Next Step: Insurance approved surgery  now I'm waiting for a date.

Current goal in progress: Losing 10-20 lbs before the surgery

Biggests concern: Not losing weight after the surgery or serious complications

Biggest Hope: To weight less than 200 lbs  and to feel comfortable and confident with my body.

Jazzy:  Margie here.  I am at the same place you are.  Went through all the stuff for insurance, then met Wednesday with my Doctor and waiting for insurance approval.

I haven't made up my profile either, but also need to lose about 160 lbs, want to have the Verticle Sleeve and get healthy again!  Hope we can keep each other informed.  This whole thing on here is new to me and I hope to get my profile completed this week-end.  Good luck!

Hey Margie. Good luck with the insurance approval. I have BCBSM and was approved really quickly. Have you gone to any of the support group meetings? I went to one in Livonia and met some nice people there. Unfortunately, they changed their meeting times and I won't be able to continue to go there. I will send you a friend request so we can keep in touch.

I have a date of May 4, do my pre-op meeting with PA, Nut, exercise therapist, etc. on the 21st. I start my liquid diet Apr. 28 (I only have to do 1 week because of my relatively low BMI. I offered to take a cancellation for surg. they just laughed and said they rarely happen. I meet back with the PA 3 days after is start liquids so they can see how I'm doing with it. I am so excited I could burst!

My goal would be to lose to 145-150lbs. My only regret is that BC/BSM won't pay for VSG at my BMI. I will be happy and will work hard with my tool, anyway.

Highest weight: 212.8 Current weight 135 Lost 77.8 pounds

City: Livonia
WLS Type: RNY
Surgery Date: Not scheduled yet
Next Step: I've been through all of the testing, my next appointment with surgeon is the 28th of April.
Current goal in progress: I don't have one right now. I kinda feel I'm wandering aimlessly through the pre-op process. I haven't had a lot of contact with my surgeon, I hope to have many more answers and a goal after my next appointment.
Biggests concern: Losing a ton of weight and then gaining it back

Biggest Hope: To be rid of my type II diabetes - no more shots!

Very nice to meet you all !!!

Thanks for responding grannymedic1 and shellre. Sorry to hear that your insurance doesn't wont cover the VSG grannymedic1.  I believe the band can be really successful for lightweights with less than 100lbs to lose.

Shellre, I agree that the waiting is hard. However, when the clinic called me to discuss a date for surgery I kind of freaked out and started having doubts about whether I am doing the right thing. I know that I am doing the right thing but
I'm still very nervous.

I completely understand the freak out.I am so excited, but nervous. The hospital called just for the endoscopy I had to have for the surgery and I freaked out. I have noooo idea how I'm going to handle the actual surgery date.
