That's why I "talked" myself out of my original opinion.  To many loopholes, lobbyists......

But I would like to see all the junk taken out of schools, I'm gonna sound pretty old here, but when I was in school you couldn't get all that crap.  And our youth is so unhealthy that they are the first generation that is not expected to live longer that their parents.  I guess that's where I think we need to "police" things.

Good morning!  Had my protein coffee, now going to move on to my Dannon Greek Yogurt - MAN was I happy to find that up here!  MUCH cheaper than OIKOS or FAGE!!  Same stats too..  I love the Carbmaster Yogurt from Kroger, but we don't have one here.

QOTD:  I also have noticed how the schools allow so much more junk into their menus.  We didn't have that either whenI was in school, of course I wanted it then....

Like others have said - its to subjective.  They'd have to create another whole branch of the government to determine what was "good" or "bad" -hey - can I get a job there?    Maybe its not such a bad idea after all!  LOL

Hope nothing is serious with Jani's grandson.

Good afternoon all!  I think taxing bad food would be not in the best interest.  There is so much controversary in good vs bad on some many levels in today's society.

Besides, upping the cigarette tax didn't change the minds of many smokers.  I find it hard to believe that people will pay $5-6 a pack for cigarettes when there are so many people out of work today.  My niece and daughter are both heavy smokers and neither one has a job.  So where do they get their money?  Welfare...so we are paying for their BAD habits...they just don't care.  (I am talking about THEM and not ALL people on welfare here!)  I am sorry if I offended anyone...just trying to make a point.

Good vs bad is in the eyes of the beholder.  Take the time to look around next time you are at the store....watch what people are putting into their carts.  Some are "junk foodinitues" while others are "health foodinities".  Do you think it will change their minds if they have to pay more?

Deb. Hope your OK and you come back to us.

Edi Good QOTD;

QOTD? I think that the government is just looking to find a new way to tax the people.
It don't have anything to do with unhealthy food or healthy food.
They already tax food that is prepared or sold as "prepared food". such as hot dogs at the local mini-mart. they don't tax the beverage but do tax the bottles that it comes in, they tax paper and non food products purchased at the grocery store. The next step would be unhealthy food QUOTE""
Like you asked Edi who determines what is unhealthy? so since everyone doesn't agree on what is and is not healthy they will just end up taxing all food saying everyone is appeased. but in reality they just accomplished how tho tax everything that we require for survival.
then there is the water bill.Water, that is treated with chemicals in it and instead of  just charging us a supply charge they will call it unhealthy  and add a use tax on it too.
And people will still pay it because they need or want it. Just like SUV's, Cigarettes and boozed.
They Know that if people want something bad enough they will pay the price no matter what it is.
Cash, or health. THEY JUST WANT MONEY FROM US AND TO KEEP US BROKE.
Will they use the money to find a cure for obesity? Did they find or even finance research for Cancer with the money they get form cigarette? No so now on May 1st they will outlaw smoking in any public place. OHIO has this law and so do many other state.
WHERE DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS TAXATION'S IS GOING.?????????????

"When we stop running away from the situation that is scary - that is the moment we discover how strong we really are. So, acknowledge your strength...rejoice in it...and start breathing in life, as the beautiful, strong soul (being) that you truly are." - Rachna Sirtaj.......Love & Peace
