Morning Deb and fella Michiganders!

Looks like we're in for storms today....down here in the southern counties we missed the rain yesterday, and we really need it.

I saw a post on FB about Jani's grandson -- anyone know why he's in the hospital???

I managed to lose 1/2 lb yesterday -- I've been so bad, and the scales are really reflecting it, time to get back on track and cut out the bad stuff.   Hoping to be able to exercise again soon -- the pool will be open Tues. & Thurs. evenings for water walking -- that works for me.

Have a great day all,
Pat R.

Deb you OK........

Well it seams Deb didn't have much to say today LOL!!!  So I'll take it over.

I'm up and at'em a bit early today, very unusual for me to be on line before work.  I usually get up with enough time to get done what I must before I head out the door.

I'm drinking some coffee right now and getting ready to make my protein shake.

Q:  Let's see....pressure :).........well Matt Lauer just gave me an idea.  What do you think about taxing unhealthy food???

I'd have to say I agree with it, they tax cigarettes and alcohol so why not "bad" food.  My only concern is who makes the decision on what is "bad".  Let's say they look at the cookie/cracker isle and say tax it....too much sugar, enriched white flour and hydrogenated oils.  Well that's prob. most of the isle but not the whole isle.  Then if they say it will depend on the food label, well we all know how they manipulate those already.  So while I think it's a good idea, I see to many loopholes.

That's funny while I was typing that I totally talked myself out of my original opinion!

Stay dry all,

Edie

I am here.  Just finally had some protein coffee.  It's been over a week since I had it and it is a big part of my daily protein intake.  I am determined to have an On Track day today.  I was going to post earlier but was waiting to see if she had anything to add lol.

QOTD-I guess I really don't know.  I have to think about it.  Maybe just taxing the bad foods sold at gas stations.

Had some decaf tea, a s/f Carnation Instant Breakfast with some powdered  milk added and now some Crystal Light.  I just started using the FitDay food journal that Pam recommended yesterday - it looks very good.  I think it's gonna take a while to build up my list of custom foods - such as the CIB with the powdered milk.  But after I get all of that loaded in, it will be a great tool.

QOTD:  No I don't think they should tax "bad" foods.  I think there are better detriments to eating unhealthy than taxing the crap out of something - and really, if someone wants those cookies, they're gonna buy them anyway.  So why use this as another tool for the government to get more of our dollars?  I want my dollars!

Good Morning everyone.

Yes, it is raining again today.  We know of some of our friends that lost barns and windows during the storm on Monday night.  Nobody was hurt so we were grateful to hear that.  The only issue we had was we were trying to watch the final minutes of the basketball game and cable went out so I had to sign into it on the internet to watch it as best we could.  Every now and then the modem blinked and had to reload everything, but it was better then nothing.

QOTD: No, I don't think they should tax the "bad" foods, I don't think anybody can decide what is bad for everyone, we are all different and it could be bread that is bad for me but ice cream is bad for my DH (really is).  So not a good idea, either tax it all or don't tax it.

Have a great day and try to stay dry.  (I hope we hear something from Jani)

Good Morning!

Glad you stopped by Deb . . lol

I just finished my protein hot chocolate . . put a little coconut extract in it . . wow it was great!

QOTD- I think that should make people think twice about eating it . . but I do remember a time when I would have paid 100.00 for a Hersey Bar . . .
I really don't know if some people would really care and I agree who would make the decision on what was unhealthy.

Enjoy your day . . stay dry!

Hi all:

Gray and gloomy here, rainy days are hard on the body.

My big news is I'm going to be a great aunt again. My nephew in Denver who said he never wanted kids is having one with his wife Jill ... she's due 10-10-10, cool date, huh? She's 13 weeks pregnant. She had a miscarriage last fall and then when they did the D&C they didn't remove all the tissue so she had some problems. But obviously now she's healthy and pregnant.

I've had my protein coffee and my first cup of regular coffee, applied for two jobs, so the day has been busy so far. I'm meeting a former coworker for lunch today.

As for your question, no, I don't think they ought to tax unhealthy foods. Who's to say what's unhealthy for one person? Some people think steak is unhealthy but we know it's good protein ... it's pretty subjective. As far as cookies and stuff, let everyone make their own choices. I don't need the food police (I have my mom for that!).

I hope this rain is over soon ... my body doesn't like damp weather at all.

Good morning all!

Busy day already. Hit 2 deadlines before 10am and now facing another project due by end of day. Fun stuff. Having a bit of yogurt and banana for breakfast. Yum!

QOTD -- I think it'd be dangerous to start taking "unhealthy" foods because then it becomes a subjective decision about what' is healthy and what's unhealthy.  Something that looks like it might be healthy might actually not be such a healthy choice when you take a closer look. For instance whole grain bread is healthy right?  But what if it's got high fructose corn syrup in it, does that make it unhealthy? Or what about yogurt that's got 30g added sugar or deli meats that are filled with chemicals and processed so much that it no longer resembles real meat.  Who gets to make those decisions and how much money is going to be spent by lobbyist to get "their" healthy food on the good list -- the corn industry has a lot of money to spend in spreading their propaganda about HFCS, right?

Have a good day all!
Pam
