I used a practice in Ann Arbor. They were quick to get me in, and experienced with Bariatric Surgery and the requirements.

I just had my psych eval today.I used the doctor my surgeon suggested. I figured he would know better than anyone which doc to use. It took a total of 15 minutes. It took me longer to drive to his office than the actual consultation. I'm still shaking my head...

Thanks everyone for your help! I called Barix this morning because I still have not heard from the doctor they referred me to. The nurse suggested that I call him again and also gave me another referral--to his sister who is also a doctor! lol. I called his sister and it was a home number again. She told me that before I schedule an appointment I should check to see if my insurance carrier will cover the evaulation. I asked if she accepts BCBS and she said yes but sometimes they do not cover the session. She then gave me some diagonistic and procedure codes to use when I call BCBS. She also said that I will need to put down a $150 deposit for the session (if it is not covered the cost will be about $300). Is putting down a deposit normal for a pysch evaluation? Barix says that I can go to any psychologist or pyschatrist so I may just look for a doctor who will just bill me for the actual cost.
