Good Friday Fresh Ground Roast
Good Morning Michigander and any other lurkers out there
I have been up since 4 am. Don't know why, just am. Must need more protein.
QOTD: Toast or Roast one person for each category.
MINE would be: Toast My children they are all in all really good kids, No major troubles, they stay out of stuff like booze and drugs, they stay close to home. And in a pinch they will do what they have to to help anyone.
Roast: The people who find every excuse in the world not to take care of themselves. The "I can'ts", If I could and did then why can't they? I think that is why we lose friends along the way of our WLS journey. Because the "I can'ts" feel insecure around us because they know we know if they truly wanted to, they could....................
Have a safe and happy Easter Holiday Weekend.

It's beautiful day in the north country once again. I woke up with a headache again today. Must need more fluids so I'll try harder today. Last night we went to our Harley meeting and for dinner we shared ribs. Oh were they yummy. We also won the 50/50 raffle (again). The second time in three meetings. I sort of hope our luck holds!
Toast: Not one person, but all of the people that have been unemployed and have been able to pull themselves up by their boot straps and find a way. Cheers.
Roast: I would roast all the people that sit back and say oh woe is me, I'm unemployed, let the government take care of me for a while, without making a concerted effort to find employment. I know couple of those people and it really burns me up. I know it's hard to find a job, but some people are just too picky as to what kind of work they'll take.
Well, I'm glad I got that off my chest this morning, but I guess I'm being too judgmental on people for this Good Friday!
Have a great weekend all.

Toast: My step daughters mom. I usually want to keep her at a distance, speak only when necessary and/slap her. I found out yesterday that she kicked her husband of 2.5 years out a couple months back for hitting her once. I want to hug her, give her a high five and tell her that she rocks for this.
Roast: My sister. Over a month ago, she came 4.5 hours to visit, stayed with my parents and my kids and I went over and stayed the night, too, so we could spend some time with my sis. She got mad in the middle of her visit and left a day early -- she was supposed to take my kids bowling in that day. Nobody has any idea why she left early or why she got mad in the first place. I called a week ago just to let her know that my surgery is next week and see if she was over being mad yet. She blew me off, was short and I finally told her that I just wanted to let her know about surgery so I'd let her go.

Good Morning and a glorious day it is !
Jani, is it possible that you grind your teeth at night which causes headaches? I have to wear a splint at night. You can buy a mouthguard at the drug store that is fairly inexpensive to see if that helps.
Toast - My husband and children! They are all the best, I am a blessed woman.
Roast - The people that spend almost every day sitting at the bar drinking instead of being home with their families !
Have a wonderful day. (oh, and about yesterdays april fool, somehow the scale knew the date because today it is back to normal, I did not drop 8 pounds suddenly *sigh*)

LOL Mary. I love your reason for insomnia. "Must need more protein." It also took me several times reading the subject line to figure out that you were talking about coffee or maybe a reference to the qotd? I dunno. But I keep imagining "Fresh Ground Roast" means grinding up a fresh beef roast to make hamburger. Anyway....
Today is a GOOD day. I packed my gym bag with my walking shoes, shorts and a tank top today -- I'll hit the trails after work. 84 today? Seriously... just saying the number makes me happy. Daffodils are blooming in my front yard and it was nice to be greeted by them this morning. The sunrise was beautiful this morning and I kept looking out my side window to soak it all in - must pay attention to the road more! On the way to work the local auto repair shop guys were out planting an ocean of beatiful and bright Johnny Jump Ups in front of their shop. I had to fight my way to the coffee machine at my morning stop today because the crew of lawn company guys were there gasing up their mowers and stocking up on snacks for their day ..... a good sign that people are thinking about yardwork. And best of all -- I'm wearing flip flops today! C'mon, how can it not be a good day when so many great things are happening!
QOTD -- Mmm.... kinda like a rant and rave session. (Except when you work in politics the word "Roast" tends to mean something different than ranting and is mostly based in humor.)
Toast -- saying a toast to my fellow group therapy gang. We met for 10 weeks together and last night was our final session. I got a bit weepy on the drive home last night because I'm going to miss our weekly connection. I'll see 'em at support group meetings and such but it won't be the same as bearing your soul once a week to people who "get" you ... what a great group of people. We've gotten our final homework assignment - a bit daunting, but kinda looking forward to it when I'm ready to take the plunge and when I know the time is right.
Roast -- can't think of anything super bad. Hard to focus on the negative when you're in such a good mood, right? If I had to pick something -- it's be my car. Took it to Northwest tire for an alignment a couple weeks ago - still not aligned. Need to take it to the break guy to have him check out the funky shimmy when I break hard. Also the check engine light came on this morning - wonder what that's about. Minor stuff, for sure.
Have a great sunny day all!
Pam

LOL Didn't mean to puzzle you Pam
I meant like Ground Roasted coffee beans.
I think ground roast beef would be ground round, and I wouldn't want any body to to get on anyone so harshly that they would be raw meat! LOL
I guess that more protein could imply ground beef since it is a protein. LOL
After all it was early and I was out of my element. Sleeping in until 9ish.
I really never intended to associate the Fresh ground roast with the QOTD. It just happened that way. Now that I read it all again it is kind of funny.

Hi fellow Michiganders:
Don't know if I'll be a Michigander for much longer. Had an interview with a newspaper in Amarillo, Texas. I think it went well; I got along well with the guy. Not that I was thinking of moving to Texas, but if they're offering enough and the job fits, I will. Otherwise, we'll continue on the disability path.
I'm drinking my Keurig Rainforest Espresso with SF Cinnamon Dolce (second cup); already had my protein coffee. Been up since 7:30 a.m. and watched the sun rise over the golf course. Golfers are out; heard the ping of the club on the ball at the 18th tee.
Toast: My friend Jeanine, who runs Reuben's Room cat rescue. I was over yesterday to see it; she must have about 40 cats. Beautiful creatures, saved from the streets or from homes that couldn't keep them. It's a no-kill shelter, so no cat will be destroyed. There are some with health problems that will live out their lives there if they don't find homes. I'm going to volunteer there.
Roast: People who abuse animals. She has one cat there that was burn; its ears were burned and there are still patches of fur that haven't grown back. It's amazing this cat is so loving and accepting of humans after enduring that.

Good Morning Michigan from Virginia Beach. It's suppose to be in the mid 70's here. Going to walk the board walk, see the shops, and pick up some shells on the beach with my great nephew.
I am totally with Jani - Not pleased that those of us working our butts off at our jobs so we can support those who are unemployed and NOT looking for jobs, just collecting unemployement, food stamps, and going to food pantries.
Toast - I would like to toast all those people go to work everyday in pain because of a disability. My boyfriend works everyday in pain due to degenerative disc disease and arthritis in his neck. Still like a trooper he works everyday.

Good Morning Michiganders from Ohio. Special good morning to Jani from another HOG member.
It will be another beautiful day here, in the 80's, packing up winter clothes to give to Goodwill as after my WLS in May, they won't be of any use to me when winter rolls around.
2nd step staging the clothes left in sze groups as I go from 22/24's down to 14's in my drawers and closets.
3rd. Pack up dishes for the move. Help DH with the work on the deck.
TOAST: All of the wonderful WLS surgeons and their staffs who are helping us to a better and healthier life.
ROAST: All of the people who constantly whine about everything, the people who don't understand them; the taste of protein; etc, etc, etc. (or was that from the King and I :)
Have a safe and happy Passover and Easter.
