Hello everyone.  I have been lurking here for a couple months now, getting some really good info about WLS.  I have had my first consult with the surgeon and my first nutritional analysis.  I have my psych eval on thursday.

I've been through this process two other times, both of wich I backed out of surgery, for various reasons, none of which were very good.  Hind sight is always 20/20!

So I'm checking in now, with the hopes that everything goes smoothly, and quickly!!

Thanks

Hi there. I have also been lurking trying to get an idea of what life will be like after surgery. I'm also in the testing process. Cardio Clearance this Thursday, Endioscopy next Tuesday and Psych Eval next Wednesday.

I can't say as I blame you for backing out. I'm really nervous about the whole thing. I hope everything goes very quickly and smoothly for you.

Good Luck!

What life is like after this.....allot of change, all of which I would do again in a heartbeat.  Honestly, some days I wish I could eat a huge sloppy burger, the important word there is huge, I can eat a sloppy burger, just not allot of it :).  My biggest problem post op is alcohol, I like it WAY to much.  I can go without it, but when I drink, I don't want to stop.  The buzz is like nothing I experienced pre op, it's dangerous, that's why it's talked about allot.

If you'd like to discuss it more, I'd be happy to, PM me.

Good luck with your decision making.

Welcome to the Michigan board.
and for coming out of lurking mode.
I think we all do that at first.

Mag you may want to actually copy your ticker and paste it to your signature. doing the code doesn't work to well
Or use the ticker maker on OH and just check the boxes that say add ticker to your signature and the one that says to your page too.

Best of luck on your journey.

Mary

Hey Mag,

It took me well over 4 years to do this once I decided I was going to have it done, in my defense I got cancer and had to put it off for 2 years, but when I was cleared I still debated for well over a year and a half because I was going to be able to do it on my own, yea right!

Stick around and ask any questions yo may have.

Good luck,

Edie

I'm here to tell you we've all questioned our decission at one time before surgery, but I don't personally know of anyone that has regretted doing it.  I know I'd do it again in a heartbeat, and actually wish I had done it years ago, rather than yo-yoing.  I'm 7.5 months out from surgery and have lost 87.5 pounds.  My goal is to lose a total of 102.5, my Dr.'s goal for me was to lose 77.5.  My health has turned around.  I can't believe the good that this surgery has done for me.  Hopefully this time you'll be brave and not back out.  It has to be right for you though.  Glad you've finally made yourself known.  We'll all be here to support you.

Just so you know being on this site and joining in with the others on the Michigan forum help to keep me from chickening out.

And Sticth and I are very happy. Even if Stitch gets PO' d every now and then.
(Stitch is my after surgery Pouch).

You can click on the name of any member who is not designated private to viw their profile and stories if you want . And that can be very reasuring to know there are others who have traveled on the path you are walking in now.

good luck on you journey.

By the way Jani is my Angel! And a darn good one too.

Welcome! Keep coming here even if you end up postponing wls. You can gain so much valuable information that it is well worth it. For example, there were 3 great posts by Molly, yesterday. Blew me away. I am pre-op and "chickened out" for 2 years. I now believe that all these years I've tried my best, and if I could have lost and kept it off (for the rest of my life) I would have by now. That has not been the case. My health is important to me and if I am to live a long(er)Quality life I need to take this step of wls. I wish you luck in what ever decision you make. One final note; you will read all kinds of horror stories. They nearly sent me running, but the majority have done well so well in fact that many have just gone on living their lives and don't come here any more. It helps to keep perspective.

Hi there!  We have the same surgeon.  I think everyone says this about their surgeon, but I love Dr. Verseman and his staff.  I have not once felt uncomfortable with them.  Gwen and Patti put me right at ease and I somehow talked to them like I've known them for years.

Keep us updated on your progress.  You'll be on the losers bench before you know it!
