Question about low pulse rate & BP

I have a question.  Last 3 times I had my BP and pulse checked they were low.  Only the last person said anything about it.  She asked if I was dizzy a lot and YES I always am.  When I get up I struggle from blacking out.  I did some research online and it can be normal in a fit perosn but I really don't think I am fit.  Plus the dizziness is not a good sign right?  Let me know what you all think.

Hi Jimi,

My friend's dad has been suffering from low BP and his doctor said it was because he was not eating enough.

BUT

I don't know your situation and I really think you should go see or call your PCP.  Low bp and dizziness is NEVER A GOOD SIGN.

okay, done preaching, stepping off my soapbox now....

From what I'm seeing, this seems to be pretty common post-op.  Our heart hasn't adjusted to pumping blood through a smaller body --- so our blood pressure tends to get low.  Low resting pulse isn't always a bad thing unless it's too low.  The more fit we are, the lower it can be.

I also struggle with low blood pressure.  For a while it was really bad, but it's getting better for sure.  Be sure you're getting all 64oz of water every day --- dehydration can cause your blood pressure to run low.  Also make sure you're getting enough sodium.  RDA is about 2400mg per day and on the ultra healthy diet we're on, we're usually really low on sodium.  I use FitDay to track my food, so it does the calculations for me -- check to see how your intake is.  The thing about sodium and water is that if we drink too much, it can deplete our sodium levels and if we eat too much sodium, we need more water to flu**** out.  So it's gotta be balanced.  These two things will help to regulate yor blood pressure.

this type of low blood pressure is usually worse when we stand up after being seated for a while or been lying down.  So be aware in these situations.  Get up slowly and take a moment to let your blood pressure to adjust.  I know --- easier said than done, I forgot often and end up 10 steps away from my chair and get the whole blackout thing.

As your body adjusts to the weight loss, the postural low blood pressure will get better.  I'm 2+ years out and it only gets bad when I slack off on my water (which is lately).
