I'm a Ds'er,  8 months out and having anemia issues (always have, just worsened post op).I'm currently on Ferrex Forte 25mg Rx twice a day and Vitalady's carbonyl 62mg with C twice a day. Iron Labs.jpg by mama_c on Aviary

I had a visit with a local hematologist yesterday and she is unconcerned unless it trends downward sharply. I fought and fought for an infusion, but all I got was a recommendation for ferrous sulfate 325mg, 3 times a day and a schedule for getting my labs checked every 2 weeks.  ??? Am I remembering wrong that ferrous sulfate isn't as effective as carbonyl?

SO, I am in the market for another hematologist. I'm dizzy a lot, exhausted, nearly fainted at my father's doctor appt the other week (which I felt horrible about...my father is wheelchair/bed bound and I'm the one the nurses are running to), I'm freezing all the time (it's different than just the weight loss coldness-that had leveled off), and concentration is out the window. Any recs for one in your (Michigan/Ohio/Indiana)area? I live 50 miles west of Toledo, Ohio and SO willing to travel for the right treatment from the right doctor.Or tips for dealing with the one I have?

ferrous Fumerate has a better absorption rate than carbonyl.

That's what I thought. Ferrous gluconate, too right? Thanks for responding.
