Does anyone know if Dr. Saber's office of Kalamazoo has replaced him yet?

I must have missed something on here......I was under the impression that it was Dr. Verseman that was leaving????  At least one of the gals from my support group told me that -- he was her surgeon.

No, Dr. Saber's office has not replaced him.

It's my knowledge that Dr. Verseman has absorbed Dr. Saber's patient load.  His office (Dr. V) is swamped right now!!!  They are so busy that initial consultations are now being scheduled for June & July.  Dr. Verseman is definitely worth the wait!  He, as well as his entire office, is wonderful!!!

I can't understand why anyone would wait that long for a consultation, let alone a surgery date... and than I would be concerned that I wouldn't be seen as quickly as needed should something go wrong post-op.

Grand Rapids is an hour north of Kzoo.  Two great surgeons (Kemmeter & Foote) that perform ALL of the major WLS, and the other two do everything but the DS.... all lap.

I was fine waiting from November 12 (seminar) to January 29 (consult).  Why?  I still had a couple months to finish up a 6 month diet set up by my pcp that could be used for WLS if I needed it (borderline BMI...one day I'd be right on the cut off, the next I would be below).

Had I not had to get clearances from a pulmonologist due to very mild sleep apnea, I would have had my surgery scheduled for mid-late March...6 to 8 weeks after the consult.  Instead, I had to wait until April 6...9 and a half weeks.

Once your in, things happen quickly and Dr. Verseman hasn't seemed at all rushed at any of our appointments.

My understanding is that they are NOT going to replace Dr. Saber.  Right before he left, my plan was to go with him as my surgeon.  When I called (before knowing for sure that he was leaving), I was referred to Dr. Verseman.

At the seminar, we were told that to get a consult with Dr. Verseman was up in the 2-3 month range then about 2 months after that, surgery could be scheduled.  When someone asked why so long, we were told it was because "another" surgeon left the area so Dr. Verseman was busy seeing two offices worth of people.

They are trying to find a replacement for him. It isn't an easy thing to do, or fast.

I had Surgery with Dr. Jon Schram, I found that he was an outstanding doctor that has completed 1000's of surgery. He and his staff do a  great job. I did call to check on his waiting time and it is not long at all, and I knows that he meets patients every week... So I would give Dr. Schram a call.
