from everything I have heard from those in the process of having and those who have had WLS, It is a process and you have to jump through the Ins. hoops. Don't give up Take it one step at a time. It took me almost 5 months after Ins. approval to actually get to the surgery table.

Every step or phase of the process is a learning experience. Use this time to do as much research as possible. go to the Library and get the book WLS for dummies or the book store.
Check on line search engines too. Being knowledgeable and aware of the life style changes you will make is a big part.

Practice chewing your food.
begin a daily vitamin regimen
start tracking your food intake Use sparkpeople.com or fitday.com
practice getting 60 to 80 grams of protein per day
quit sodas Don't drink anything until you have drank 64 oz of water each day
test protein 100% whey Isolate protein powders research the price and where to find them

You have your work cut out for you as far as research. You will learn to be proactive in your health and wellness
After your approve and you have orientation for WLS you will be very busy and the time will fly by.

good luck.

I have HAP and they do not usually cover Vertical Sleeve, however after talking to Dr.Carlin at Henry Ford about why I wanted to be sleeved as opposed to RNY  he was able to get it approved by HAP by explaining why it was better medically for my situation.
