Stressing a little over walking after surgery

I am having RNY on the 31st.

I have horrible plantar fasciitis in BOTH feet.  I am crippled first thing in the morning and after I have been sitting for any length of time.  I can't imagine being in pain from surgery AND my feet hurting too.  Ugh.

I need to get myself back to the foot dr.  And I will.  But doggone it, this is going to be a you-know-what.  Sigh.  I keep hoping that after I drop some weight it won't hurt as bad, but I do not think that's the case.  Stupid FLAT FEET.

I have that in both my feet as well.  My right foot was so bad I had surgery on it.  I got shots for them at first.  They really helped the left foot. It has been about a year and a half since surgery and for the most part my right foot feels fine but every once in a while usually in the morning  It aches just a bit.  Do you have insoles in your shoes?  I bought some from my foot doctor, it was around 40 bucks and they have a good arch in them.

Good Luck, I know the pain.

Yeah I also bought some inserts from the dr that were around the same price.  They helped - and I had a cortisone injection.  OUCH!!!!  That was my left foot where it all started.  I am scared to get another one - that sucker hurt.  LOL>  but I gotta get some relief...

Suzy - My husband had really bad plantar fasciitis in his feet and the thing that finally gave him some relief was an injection by a foot doctor.  I'm not sure what was injected but I can find out from him if you'd like. :)  Probably a standard remedy.

My doctor said that women have better pain tolerance for the injections.  That the men are babies about it.  He said he thinks it is because we give birth and run a household even if we get sick. We suck it up and get the job done.  He even cringes when he gives me the shot. lol

LAUGH - that may be true...but I have never had a labor pain in my life.  I had both of my kids by scheduled c-Sections... so I know not the pain of childbirth .  Ugh i would cringe having to give those dang shots, too.  It's nasty.  I didn'****ch.  I covered my eyes.  blah.  I am getting queasy just thinking about it now.

I'm telling you Suzy, go see Dr. Sebastian Benenati (771-3550) at Frahzo and Kelly (nice and close to you.)  He's great.  I know exactly what you're talking about with the foot pain.  I had the surgery on both feet at the same time and am pain free now.  Hubby had the surgery this past November and is also pain free now.  I think I'm a bit prejudiced, because Dr. B used to live across the street and is like a brother to me.  Tell him I referred you and he'll take real good care of you.  Actually, even if I didn't refer you he'd take good care of you.  He knows I had WLS so you can tell him, Jan that had WLS, he'll know who you're talking about.  I tried inserts and taping and shots and finally we agreed on surgery.  Hubby was taped once and had shots and finally said, lets just do the surgery and get it over with, so he did.  Good luck.

Hi jan!!

I am so sorry for not getting back to you.  That was so nice of you to take the time to message me.  Did you have the surgery before RNY or after or what?  I know that I cannot go having any foot surgery until after the RNY...but I am so afraid that I won't be able to walk right after RNY ..LOL

About the injections..did he freeze / numb it first?  I think I could handle that better if they did.  Dr. Shaw where I went before just sprayed some stuff on it..but that wasn't good enough.  LOL.  I was breathing through that pain like I was in labor.  (which I have never been in - LOL)
